Well Debbie, the reason is that Booty isn't made to be an NFL starter. A few
news articled alluded that he might not even make the team last year. He might
turn the corner, but only a very hopeful fan thinks he will some day be the
Vikings' starter. Hey I am hopeful with T-Jack, so it's all good.
Aaron, welcome to the NovaVikes group. Good to see another hopeless T-Jack
supporter. There aren't enough of us around. Too many people go from one
bandwagon to the next in hopes that the QB will be the ultimate answer. I think
Childress sucks balls, and that is the ultimate reason for T-Jack's
underdevelopment.
A few years ago when the Steelers won the SuperBowl with a very inexperienced QB
named Ben Rothliesberger. He had the worst QB Rating of all time for any QB in
a SuperBowl. The Steelers did not win because of their QB, they won despite
him. That is just one example. Dilfer with the Ravens, Hostetler with the
Giants, every Redskin QB that ever won a SuperBowl. All of these were non-stars
who aren't regarded today as talented QBs in their own right. Yet, they won
SuperBowls. We tend to look at the Tom Bradys and Joe Montanas of the past and
see Hall of Fame QBs that led their teams to great feats. Not all great QBs
make it to the big game. Dan Marino could not win the Super Bowl.
There is no I in Team, but there is an I in Brett Favre. It has always been
about him, and the 2 Super Bowls they were in they had a stellar defense led by
Randy White to pick up for all the INTs he threw along the way. Gunslinger is
another cutesy way of saying he likes to put the ball up and be risky. You can
say he holds the TD record, sure, but he also holds the INT record too. If you
think T-Jack drives you crazy when he rushes the ball and you wince from his
pour decisions, well how many tums can your stomach take when you have to watch
Favre do that over and over again. INT after INT. Sure his rainbow airballs
will connect sometimes, but he is the man, right? He is not the answer. I am
not saying T-Jack or Sage or even Booty is, but I rather see them mentor one of
them into this year's Dilfer, Hostetler or do I dare dream, Steve Young who took
many years to become the Pro Bowl QB we all remember him as.
If we had a good coach who believed in his system, he wouldn't be grasping at
straws to acquire this characterless QB who wanted no part of the Jets'
commarderie last season. If he didn't want to be a part of the Jets family,
turned his back on his biggest supporters- the Packer fans, do you really think
he will care one iota about playing for the Vikings other than the 2 games
against his former team? It is all about Brett Favre and it will always be
about Brett Favre. The same guy who kept the Packers hostage with his
retirement for 3 years, now is doing it with us, and some of you are stupid
enough to dust off the welcome mat for this piece of crap. You may get your
wish in the end.
