Look, as I prefaced the "PRICELESS" quote, I have mixed feelings about BF as a
Vikings QB.
His interception record alone would be enough to give me an ulcer. Not to
mention those last second seemingly random underhanded flip passes he throws
after he has scrambled over the line of scrimage.
Those are not nearly as poetically graceful as the patented T-Jack "Jump Pass".
But what we have here is definitely unique. On Green Bay's NFL Mt. Rushmore,
there is Lombardi, Starr and Favre. Favre IS Green Bay. He has played for 16
years for that team...starting EVERY GAME. Our "holier than thou" Cheesehead
neighbors, when not bragging about Lambeau or their 3 SuperBowl wins were
basking in the nation's LOVE of Brett. As soon as he announced his retirement
they were probably reserving their places on the convoy of orange school buses
that would be heading to Canton in a few years when he makes his HOF acceptance
speech.
For him to possibly run onto Lambeau as a Viking and field marshall a victory
over Cheesehead Nation would overload Wisconsin psychiatric health care workers
for MONTHS. Maybe years...
It is difficult to even approach a reverse analogy to that. The only thing I
could even imagine would be if Bud Grant, after retiring in 1983, would have
decided to go coach The Pack the following year while we dejectedly watched our
Les Steckel coached Vikes get crushed.
I understand the vitriol against a player that has been our rival for so many
years. Believe me, I am sick of this guy and he has led his team to consecutive
year 2-0 seasons against us.
But this is about something more...it's about sticking it to our pompous, most
recently 13-3, NFC Norris neighbor.
Think about it. Vikes fans will have a virtual "get out of jail free" card in
every argument with a Cheesehead. Any time they get all pompous, you just start
by saying: "Yeah, that's kind of impressive. But remember when Favre was a
Viking and he went into Lambeau and crushed you?" Then you smile smugly while
enjoying their blank stare.
Or go over and enjoy a game at Lambeau, a Brewers game, a flight on Midwest
Airlines, a holiday in The Dells, or sample some fresh Miller High Life at the
Milwaukee brewery...while wearing your purple Favre jersey. There are so many
options.
Anyway, I close with one final thought: Opening Monday Night Football game at
Lambeau, the Vikes down by 6 in the 4th quarter, minutes to go. DARREN SHARPER
intercepts the ball, gets tackled. FAVRE steps in and marches us down the
field, capped by an improvised underhanded flip pass to ADP for the TD. RYAN
LONGWELL then kicks the extra point for the victory...
It would NEVER be forgotten.

That is an excellent point. The only reason favrah beat us the last two
years is because we had no pass rush and couldn't force him into
throwing his patented interceptions. Once Allen starts to put a little
pressure on him it will be 04 playoffs all over again!
