Today in an interview, Childress was asked about Carr and he said he
wasn't sure about Carr's style of throwing and it seemed unlikely the
Vikings would chase him. He restated that Jackson and Bollinger would
fight it out during the preseason. I only hope he gives the job to
Jackson and we can see what he has before giving up on the kid. He
only has a 4 year contract and that doesn't leave much time to decide
on his future if they sit him next year. Most new NFL QBs that are
regarded as the future of an organization sign for at least 5 years, so
the team has ample time to evaluate them. It didn't make sense that
the Vikings knew they drafted a project, spent two 3rd round picks to
jump into the 2nd round to draft the kid, only to give him a 4 year
contract.
I am a big Notre Dame fan, but I want no part of Quinn. Not because I
don't like him, but because we made the commitment last year with
Jackson, and now lets give him someone to throw to and see what he
has. If we draft Quinn, we start over again, which gives Childress
another excuse to have a rebuilding season and comeback in 2008 even
with a poor record. Something I can barely stomach this year, and I am
one who believes in giving coaches more slack to prove themselves.
Childress just rubs me the wrong way and the handling of Marcus
Robinson by cutting him on Christmas Eve amd having Spielman call him
is gutless and shows me the coach is a bit of a lowlife. I can't get
that out of my head. I only wished Wilf fired him on Christmas Day so
he could understand what it must have felt like while Marcus was home
with his family when the call came in. I am not saying Marcus deserved
or didn't deserved to be cut, but doing it on such a day like that is
so wrong. Hey, even I know that and I am jewish.
