I actually like the idea of making the points for wins more, but the
idea of points for holds, I am not a big fan of.. I like the fact
that we have a 12 team groups here so that we have to pick up Bob
Uecker's 4th cousin 3 times removed once in a while. It really makes
you have to pay attention, especially if one of your star players gets
hurt. If you add the middle relievers to the mix, I think that it
really "waters down" the pool of which our key talent comes from. I
had a lot of Injuries last year, and although it didnt help my cause,
I really liked the challenge of trying to find the cheap replacement.
If the hold category gets added, it would be wayyyyyy too easy to
find someone to replace your star pitcher for a buck, and even find
deals that are just outrageous. I vote yes to more points for wins,
but no way to the holds. And I can't line Veto, then I vote a total nay..
Vic
If it is a vote on the pitching points..."aye".

I have no idea what a PHP is, but it sounds impressive! However, I do
know what RHP and LHP mean, and I plan to draft some of both. There,
how is that for "letting the cat out of the bag"?
Now we just need KC to find a job and the unemployment rate of the NSL
will be 0.00%!
One more thing, I hope this job keeps you extremely busy so you don't
have time to constantly scout on the web...wait a second...you said
web-lackey was part of the job...shoot...all hope is lost.

From the Department of Redundancy Department, PHP stands for "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor". Can an acronym refer to itself? Why lot RHP? (RHP: Hypertext Preprocessor). Because PHP is palindromic?
If you'll notice, the pages of the Northstar League website are coded in PHP, essentially it's HTML code with PHP code intertwined that allows the page to communicate with a database and/or a user.
At any rate, I will be one of the web lackeys at the paper, and will be a busy lackey, as I intend to keep on teaching online and doing some class development for Rio Salado on the side, as well as doing the Baby Baseball Cards. The good news is that Kelly will be able to cut back to half time and help me out a little with the card orders. I also hope to finagle some press passes to see some Billings Mustangs games this year!
The
dollar values are up, if anyone sees any discrepancies with the Bible, let me know.
I also have a pitching-related proposal: Keep saves at 8 points, increase wins to 10 points, and award 6 points for holds. I'll do some number-crunching and see how that washes out.
See y'all soon!

Now if we can find KC gainful employment, the NSL can report 0.00% unemployment to the Dept of Labor.
If anyone else ends up finding a better deal for the rooms in Vegas, please let me know so I can cancel mine.

Some of you know that one of my pet peeves is the almost constant use of cell phones by people while driving or shopping , dining , in line at the store etc. Does no one know how to say (I'll call you right back)?
Well, it has gone beyond that now with them using them at the beach. This is beyond being inconsiderate, in my opinion.
While on the beach recently, I had to just sit there and listen to this woman for two full hours while she talked on her cell phone and pranced back forth in front of me. I couldn't concentrate on my book.
How rude can she be? If you know her, please tell her to be considerate of others!

This will not affect draft weekend one iota, as Mark and I were only

One of the things we did last year for the first time, and should be
made into an amendment, is the use of waivers to add players
immediately after the draft.
Instead of their being a mad rush of transactions following the draft,
each team had a chance to submit a transaction if they wished. The
order was in reverse of the draft order (in essence, it was the 20th
round).

I received a copy of the Bible in the mail today from Wayman. The

Nice job on the babymaking, NSL. Mark checks in with a fresh pair
(Express blessings), Paul is ready to ante (Yadduck junior?), and I
just got a photocard from Karl's three of a kind (Andrew looks like he
could kick my ass). Can we get an official 2nd gen count including all
of the Borning, Wayman, and Hulberg crowd? I think they'll outnumber
us soon and maybe someday, have a competing league.
Perhaps there will be a Little Little Meatball one day.
Congratulations to Mark and family on the birth of Marisa; and also
congratulations to Paul and Teri on the announcement of their
pregnancy. I learned of both yesterday - made for an exciting day!
On an additional baby-related note, I officially launched the
BabyNameFacts.com site yesterday as well, finishing up the final
touches on the site and purchasing some traffic. The initial feedback
has been very positive - it's a very neat looking design with a ton of
fun content.
Less than a month until pitchers and catchers report!

Hi everybody!
Just wanted to let you all know that we had a baby girl January 16th at
11:39 am, she weighed 6 lbs 1 oz and was 18 3/4" long. We have named
her Marisa Karmal Don Rathbun. Mom and baby are doing well even though
she came a about 2-3 weeks early.
Looking forward to seeing you all at draftmas!!

Shiite!!
The interview went well, I think there's a better than 50/50 shot
that I'll get a job offer by next week. I'm kind of excited about the
prospects of moving back to a baseball town.
However, not even Billings, MT is civilized enough to have the Bible -
I checked both Borders and Barnes and Chernobyl to no avail.
Wayman, if you find one, can you mail me a copy like you did last
year? I subscribed to the Rotoworld magazine, so I'll get that one in
the mail, no need to send that one.
Thanks,

My job in a major bookstore pays off better than just minimum wage.
Let the scouting begin.
Since I will arrive shortly after (1/2 hour) the MN delegation, I too
plan to be falling down. However my fall will be caused because I
