Boxing Day 26-12-2005.
The King George card at sandown looks full of quality as ever
notwithstanding
this year's change of venue.
In the opener at 12.35 the record of N Henderson is excellent with 5
wins from
last 7 races. MAMBO is the yaards first choice based on jockey
bookings
and whilst I had hoped for an e/w price the latest show at 7/2
signifies
a degree of stable support for this one.
In the King George itself the key trend is that last 10 winenrs all
won last race.
This trend suggests that we should ignore Kicking King this time.
Kingscliff
is the obvious alternative but wouldnt it be great for Jim Lewis and
Henrietta Knight
if IMPEK could steal the show - latest price around 6-1.
My final selection at Sandown today is in the Feltham Nov Chase at
2.50. In this event
6yo have an excellent record and of those entered DARKNESS looks the
best of the age group
and unlike likely favourite Crozan has won over this trip. Latest
odds around 9/4.
In the North the big meeting is at Wetherby.
In the opener favourites have a good record although they have
usually run well in last
28 days so it may pay to take on the tissue favourite with STEEPES
OF GOLD.
In the 1.20 race the trends favour 5-7yo with a good recent run and
usually carrying
11st 4lbs or less. RUSSIAN SKY meets all thes ecriteria and may give
supporters a good
ew run at around 14-1.
In the 3.05 race the 8yo age group has an excellent record. Im still
not sure about the Pipe
horses after their bleak spekk, Posh Stick always seems to find a
few too good thus I'll
side with SHARP BELLINE who won on this day last year and whose
trainer Sue Smith has won this
race twice in last 6 years. Latest odds 5-1.
My final selection at Wetherby is in the 3.35 race. In this event
4yo have a very good record
as do horses at the top of the handicap. The booking of G Lee for
ASTON LAD looks significant
and at 7-1 in latest betting also gives some ew value.
I shall be recording these events whilst cheering on the Sale Sharks
in their Boxing Day fixture
against The Saints - hopefully a few winners will be awaiting for me
on my return!
