Saturday 17th December.
Another Saturday of depleted jumps racing! The surviving Haydock card
gives us an easier chance (4 legs only) to go for the Scoop 6 and a
future bonus prize!
In the 2.05 race the favourites have a poor past record in this event
thus I shall be siding with Arctic Jack (won this in 2003) who seems
to be showing signs of a return to form. I was hoping for 11/2 but
now as short as 100-30.
In the 2.35 race there is a good trend for horses that last ran 14
days ago
(6/10 races) and I had selected Cherub only to find this has been
pulled out.
Of the two others fitting this criteria Id plum for Better Days who
has
done little wrong this year. Likely SP 9-1 thus decent e/w selection.
In the 3.05 the one I picked out last night was Heron's Ghyll (8/1
expected)
only to find today that this is possibly jnt fav at 7/2. Still the
yard
is in fine form and I like following horses back from a lay off so
Ill
stick with this despite the poorer odds. Venetia Williams is
currently
leading NH trainer at NW tracks in 2005.
For the finale at 3.35 this is a race won by a 5yo in all 4 runnings
to date
all of which went off at 4/1 or shorter. I think this will be down to
the Twiston-Davies and O'Neill horses to battle out and my preference
is for Best Profile (with benefit of a more recent run).
Of the four races I think the last should be the easier to narrow
down the
potential winners thus I shall be making BEST PROFILE my Saturday
Naps selection
- hopefully will add to my 60% strike rate this season!!
