2005-2006 NH Saturday Naps Challenge

Entries are now being taken for the 2005-2006 National Hunt Saturday
Nap Challenge.

This is a simple to enter competition run through the main NH Season
from 12th November 2005 to 8th April 2006 in four separate 5 week
rounds with also a seasonal competition..

Full rules will be supplied to all entrants but the basic idea is to
select one horse running at a National Hunt meeting in the
UK/Ireland on each Saturday and the entry with the highest level
stake profit wins the prizes for each of the 4 Rounds and also the
Seasonal Prize.

It costs just £5 to enter for the whole season with up 11 prize
winners expected based on last years prize fund.

We are hoping that this year's prize fund will top £600 for the
first time from both the entry fees and also sponsors prizes -
usually in form of betting vouchers and also Raceday members badges.

Once all sponsorship details are confirmed details will be updated
although there are guaranteed prizes for the winners of each round
and also winner/runner up of the seasonal competition.

The overall winner also receives the 'Tote Credit' Trophy for 12
months, to be presented at the Annual NWRC Racing Dinner or other
suitable event.

Selections are accepted via e mail, text or answer phone. Rules to
be similar to last year but please check for some slight alterations
this year.

Each entry will be acknowledged and an entry number allocated. If
entrants also require a paper copy of the rules please send a SAE
with the entry form - e mail entrants will receive confirmation via
e mail of course.

WHITE SWAN RACING BREAKS - NOVEMBER 2005


Nigel Perkis is manager at the White Swan Hotel at Alnwick and runs
several racing breaks during the year. The next two take place in

'10 TO FOLLOW' SYNDICATE – 2005/6 NH COMPETITION


NWRC member Craig Hunter from Newcastle has suggested it might be an
idea to form a syndicate entry for this year's competition.
Certainly our shared knowledge of racing should stand us in good
stead!

The recent trends in this competition are for syndicates to win the
big prizes so hopefully members may prefer a multiple entry in this
way rather than `going it alone'!

What I propose is that participants submit a list of 10 horses
(ranked in order of preference) plus the £10 entry fee to NWRC at
least 7 days before the closing date. I shall then use the lists to
compile a consolidated list of banker selections (Based on a first
choice horse scoring 10pts and 10th on list 1 pt).

Each entry will then be made up using 5 bankers from the
consolidated list plus the top 5 selections from each member's
personalised lists that are not already in the banker selections
i.e. the final entries will be 50% group selections and 50%
personalised.

As an incentive the personal lists supplied will also be scored at
the end of the competition and the best entry will get a prize from
NWRC whatever happens!

The entries will all be in the name of NWRC All entrants must also
agree to any prize money being shared equally between the syndicate
entries – copies of final entries will be posted on the club web
site or for those without internet access a paper copy can be
supplied if a SAE is provided.



NB The competition will start on the 11th November, but full details
will be published on the 22nd October. Thus entries to be sent to
NWRC to arrive by 4th November. Please post to Phil Evans at 53

AINTREE DISCOUNTS


NWRC members are again able to pre-book tickets for Aintree's
November meeting (including the November joint meeting with Haydock)
at discounted prices.

For these meetings Aintree has a single admission ticket allowing
access to all stands.

Prices are as follows:



November 20th

£13.00 per ticket if purchased prior to 31st October

£16.00 per ticket after this date and on the day



Two-day ticket promotion with Haydock (November 19th)

Option One - £24 – Aintree admission and Tattersalls Enclosure at
Haydock

Option Two - £30 – Aintree admission and County Enclosure at Haydock

Both of the above options can be purchased from Aintree and Haydock



As usual, accompanied children aged 16 and under are admitted free.

OCTOBER BOOK COMPETITION

This months prize will be a copy of the SUPERFORM 2005 JUMPS ANNUAL.

Now in its 31st year the annuals and other form guides produced by
SUPERFORM remain top quality racing information.

This year the annual's publication has been delayed to cover much of
the summer racing but will be available in the shops or direct from
the publisher in late September/early October

The NH annual costs £27.50 hardback or £24.50 paperback but if
ordered by 4th Oct a £3 saving is offered. Orders can be placed by
phone on 01273 452441.

Anyway those wishing to win one need to answer the following
question correctly:

The 2005 Jumps Annual includes results/commentary on 4,438 races as
well as a full A-Z index. How many pages does this fill – is it
