RHT AUGUST NEWSLETTER LOOKING HEAD TO THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER
Dear Registered User,

Thank you for expressing an interest in RHT and its 13 Racecourses.
We have taken the opportunity to contact you to keep you up to date
with the racing and events scheduled across the courses over the next
few weeks.

Have you thought about tickets for the Haydock Park Sprint Cup ?
If you haven't yet bought your tickets please read on and you will
find a competition opportunity to win 2 tickets to go next Saturday
4th September.

I hope you will find the following bulletin useful and informative,
it will be the first of a monthly correspondence from RHT to keep you
up to date with the best offers and most exciting racing in the
forthcoming month.

ONE of RHT's leading racecourses - Haydock Park - stages the 'six-
furlong championship of Europe' on the first Saturday in September.
At £225,000, the Group One Stanleybet Sprint Cup is the richest race
ever run at the racecourse, which is midway between Liverpool and
Manchester and easily accessed from the north or the south on the M6.

The Sprint Cup is a prize much sought after by racehorse owners and
trainers, and being the last 6 furlong Group 1 of the season, it has
an important role in deciding the champion sprinter each year. Once
again some of the quickest horses in the British Isles have been
entered for the race.

It's a race with real history, and has been won over the years by
some of the very best sprinters in Europe, including Dayjur,
Danehill, Ajdal and Wolfhound.

Be Friendly - owned by the former BBC 'Voice of Racing' Sir Peter
O'Sullevan - won the first two Sprint Cups in 1966 and 1967. He
remains the only horse to have won the race twice, and a life-size
bronze of him now stands resplendent in the paddock at Haydock Park.

This year, top Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien and the powerful Godolphin
yard of Sheikh Mohammed are responsible for ten of the 53 entries for
the event. Among those from the Irish stable is One Cool Cat - the
colt sent off as favourite for the 2000 Guineas but who suffered
problems in the race. He was very impressive recently in Ireland when
returning to sprinting, and has had Haydock Park nominated as his
autumn target.

Into that category too falls Aidan O'Brien's Antonius Pius who
misbehaved in the French 2000 Guineas before losing his chance by
crashing into a running rail.

The first three finishers in this year's July Cup at Newmarket are
set to renew their rivalry, namely Frizzante, Ashdown Express and
Balmont. Indeed, six of the first seven home at Newmarket are entered
for Haydock.

Last year's Sprint Cup hero Somnus, winner of this years Group 1 Prix
Maurice de Gheest at Deauville, may bid to repeat his victory, and
three of the next four home in the race last September may also
return. These include Fayr Jag - the winner of this year's Golden
Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot - Airwave and Steenberg.

Add to those two of last season's leading juveniles - Dewhurst Stakes
winner Milk It Mick and Royal Ascot winner Three Valleys - as well as
three entries from across the Channel in France, and a tremendous
renewal of the race is in prospect.

Haydock Park's managing director Adam Waterworth: 'The quality of
entries for this year's Stanleybet Sprint Cup is excellent. The very
best sprinters are all there. And a number of last year's leading
juveniles look set to return to sprinting after running in the
leading races over one mile this year. This year, with no one
sprinter dominating the scene, our race, seems certain to determine
the title of leading sprinter.'

*The Stanleybet Sprint Cup is the showpiece race of the two-day
meeting at Haydock Parkon Friday 3 and Saturday 4 September. First
race times are 2.30pm and 2pm respectively. Admission is £8 into the
Newton Enclosure (£6 on Friday), £15 into the Tattersalls Enclosure
(£12 on Friday), £24 into the County Enclosure (£19 on Friday), and
£38 into the Premier Enclosure on the top floor of the Centenary
Grandstand (£32 on Friday). Accompanied children under 16 enter free.
Senior citizens and students, with appropriate identification, enter
Tattersalls and the Newton Enclosure at half price. More details
about racing at Haydock are available on web site www.haydock-
park.co.uk.

For your chance to win 2 tickets to the Haydock Park Sprint Cup,
please answer the following question -

Which previous winner of the Haydock Sprint Cup was subsequently
beaten in the Breeders Cup sprint when famously jumping a shadow in
the final furlong with the race seemingly won?

Royal Academy
Sheikh Albadou
Dayjur
and e-mail your response, name and address to cassie.eiloart@...
The closing date for the competition is Tuesday 31st August at 5pm.
