Dear All
In view of the lack of preview nights on the flat I thought we may try running
some 'on line' previews.
I have set up a new google web site for this and members can subscribe to this
site using the box on the very bottom of the club web site:
http://www.northernracingclub.com/
I have used Google again as the messages come up on screen much quicker than
Yahoo and as such it should be more user friendly for an interactive debate.
It is the intention to trial the web site for the Goodwood festival on a members
only basis and if this works ok we shall then invite some guest tipsters to join
the online preview for the York Ebor meeting in August.
Here are some Q&A's that may help:
Q When will the previews take place?
A Initially it is proposed that the previews will take place at 8pm each
evening before the next day's festival card so for Goodwood they will be Monday
through until Friday nights.
Q What will the format be?
A A committee member will chair each prview night and will be responsible for
starting a new topic covering each of the races on the card. Once all comments
and questions on the race are covered the chairperson will close the topic and
move onto the next race using a new topic line. Members can either join in the
debate or just read the other members comments.
Q How long will they last?
A We shall need to suck it and see to some extent although Id have thought 5
minutes per smaller race and 10 minutes per feature race may be a reasonable
guestimate thus each nights preview may last around 45 minutes.
Q What happens if I cannot log in at the start time?
A All comments will remain on the web site and can be read later on. However
once the preview meeting and topics are closed it will not be possible to ask
further questions or extend the debate.
Q Who can join in?
A Initially we are inviting current/past members of NRC to join in although if
you want to invite other racing enthusiasts that will be fine also.
Q Are there are rules to adhere to?
A Just use common sense and dont make any libelous statements etc! Anyone
abusing the forum will regretably be banned....
I hope members will enjoy this new facility and I would urge you to subscribe to
the Google web site as soon as possible - if you have a problem registering
please let me know - if you have used any other Google log ins you may be able
to use these for the new web site also.
Best regards
Phil Evans
