5 Furlong Handicap for 4yo+ (10%) – All but last raced 7-31 days earlier. J
Goldie & D Nicholls are leading trainers with 2 wins each. Middle draw (stalls
6-10) is slightly preferred. A very difficult race to predict with nine winners
having SP's between 11-1 and 33-1!
1M 2F Middleton Stakes (Grp3) for 4yo+ fillies (40%): M Stoute has two wins in
the race since 1999. 4yo is the preferred age group with 8/10 wins. Even though
fields are generally small a low draw (stalls 1-2) appears a slight advantage
with stall 2 providing 3 past winners.
1M 2F Dante Stakes (Grp2) for 3yo (45%): M Stoute is the leading trainer with 3
wins, although he won the race last year and has never trained consecutive
winners. 8/10 recent winners had also won their last race. A middle draw (stalls
4-7) would appear to have a slight advantage although stall 3 has the best
record with 3 wins.
1 Mile Hambleton Handicap (Listed) for 4yo+ (33%): Another difficult handicap
albeit less prone to complete outsiders with longest SP seen at 14-1. Key trend
may be the age group where 4yo have won on 6/10 occasions. Only 2/9 winners
managed a victory on their seasonal debut with most others last running 8-23
days earlier.
5 Furlong Conditions Stks for 3yo (n/a): New race in 2009.
6 Furl Maiden for 2yo (40%) – Other than seven unraced winners the rest finished
2nd/3rd on their only previous outing. A middle draw (stalls 4-7) appears a
slight advantage although the top draw is stall 6 with 4 wins.
2M 2F Handicap for 4yo+ (25%): Race only run 4 times and trip shortened by 2
furlongs in 2007. Kayf Aramis is a dual winner for previos trainer J Spearing in
2006 & 2007 and finished 4th for new trainer Venetia Williams in 2008 thus
should not be dismissed lightly. Hoever a common trend in all four past winners
was a flat race some 21-26 days earler with all also having a 1st/2nd placed run
on at least one of last three outings
