Hi there,
Pardon the brevity of this newsletter but with our running plans
continually changing because of the weather I thought an update would
be useful.
3 RUNNERS AT HEREFORD ON SUNDAY
LATIN SCHOLAR - he will take his chance in the juvenile hurdle. Choc
rides Black Jacari so we have Wayne Hutchinson on top, he'll be sure
to do a fine job. Latin is a good prospect who would ideally like
slightly better ground but he'll be trying his best and should run
another promising race at worst. Alan likes him, is keen to get
more racing experience into the horse & is convinced Latin has a
future over hurdles.
DANSIMAR - she will carry top weight in the 0-125 Mares 2m4f
handicap, less Aidan's valuable 3lb claim. After 3 easy wins last
season she had her first real test over hurdles at Cheltenham (
discount Wincanton - came back wrong ) and did well enough. That was
a fast run race over 2m and after making a blunder at the 4th she was
taken off her feet a little bit. She'll cope with the ground and
this extra half mile will suit. Venetia says she is working nicely
but that comment covers all her string who are blowing very hot.
ASTURIENNE - missed a suitable engagement in Mares company at
Fakenham this afternoon. That was a shame but we are fortunate to
have another bumper to target on Sunday with Choc on top. This race
will give us a really good guide to her ability level as she'll meet
two previous winners & a well touted debutant from the Hobbs team.
Asturienne has been working nicely & has improved a little since her
debut win at Huntingdon.
NEXT WEEK .................
THEATRE DIVA - she holds an entry at Southwell on Tuesday and the
intention is to run. It's a 2m4f handicap over brush hurdles,
Venetia thinks they will suit her.
VALLEYOFTHEDOLLS - has been most unfortunate. She was short priced
favourite for a novice at Southwell last week but that fell to the
snow. She was then re-routed to Fakenham this afternoon but that
also fell to a snow bound track. There were only 4 runners so,
frustratingly, it's another good hurdling debut opportunity missed.
Valley holds an entry at Southwell on Tuesday but will get others to
back that up. I've suggested to Alan we fit her with ski's and
forget the racing shoes. She has schooled well and we are very
keen to race.
KANDJAR DALLIER - he has two race entries planned for next week.
Firstly a 3m 0-145 chase at Doncaster on Wednesday & a 3m5f 0-135
chase at Warwick on Friday. Kandjar is in good form at home & has
been playing in the snow. Alan's yard was hit with nearly a foot
of snow but he's mamaged to keep the horses on the go.
LONGER TERM ...............
OSCAR JACK - a race target at Market Rasen on Monday has already
fallen to the weather due to flooding. The next available handicap
is at Towcester on Sunday 22nd but there will be other options
CHARMAINE WOOD - it's looking increasingly likely she'll go direct to
Newbury for the EBF Mares Final on March 21st. The race is still 5
weeks away but Alan wants to take her there fresh. We shall be
praying for some decent ground.
DARYAL - having had a chat with Gary Moore yesterday I'm pleased to
report he's delighted with Daryal. It's highly likely we'll start
his campaign over hurdles & hopefully that would be by the end of the
month. Good news !
I'll mail out again late next week. Hopefully there will be some
good results to chat about.
Good luck,
Mark
