November 2nd Meeting - Trendsetters Guide (1999-2007)
Previous race trends can often help provide a shortlist of potential
winners in the current year's races - hopefully these brief pointers
will assist Racegoers at Carlisle today. The figure in brackets after
the race details is the favourite's strike rate for the race. Only
three
races are featured today due to the lack of hurdle races at this
fixture:
(2.10) 2 Mile 4 Furl Intermediate Chase (66%): Only run three times
to date usually attracting a small but select field. All past winners
were either 1st/2nd favourites with longest SP seen at 11/4. All were
also aged wither 7/8yrs and had won their last completed race
(excludes falls etc) and had been off the track for at least 190
days. Northern based trainers also fare well in this event.
(3.10) 3M 2F Cumberland Chase (25%) : Some records will show this
race has been run for over 10 years but in its latest format the more
prestigious Cumberland Chase has only been run on this day since
2004. The first three winners had all won on their latest start
whilst last year's winner (Naunton Brook) had not won in it's last 5
starts thus bucking this trend. All winners were younger horses aged
between 5-9yrs and all were trained in top yards namely JH Johnson,
Sue Smith, DE Pipe and
N Twiston Davies. All horses last raced within last 204 days but only
2/4 ran in current season.
(3.45) 2M Novice Handicap Chase (25%): Past winners were generally
well supported with only one winner's odds greater than 8/1. All
winners aged 6/7 years old with 6yo being preferred. A 6th place or
better on last completed run (excludes falls etc) was seen for all
past winners. 8/8 past winners had already run in current season but
all were rested at least 11 days since their last run. Again Northern
England based trainers fare best in this event with R Ford (Cheshire)
being the longest distance traveller to collect the prize.
