July 29th Meeting - Trendsetters Guide


Previous race trends can often help provide a shortlist of potential
winners in the current year's races - hopefully these brief pointers
will assist racegoers at Carlisle today. The 'Lucky Stalls' are those

providing the most winners of the races since 1998. Due to the

changes in the race schedule in 2007 there are only past records for

five races today as follows:

(2.30) 5 Furl Maiden for 2yo (63%): All past winners placed 4th or
better on last two runs within last 6-52 days. T Barron is leading
trainer with 2 wins. Longest SP seen 11-1. Lucky stalls #4 (3 wins)
#2 (2 wins).

(3.35) 1M H/cap for 3yo (25%): Previously run over 1M 1F.

Six of the eight past winners were placed 3rd or better on either of

last two outings with last three winners winning their last race.

Sir M Prescott is leading trainer with 2 wins. Although

favourite's record is poor most winners were reasonably well
supported

with odds of 12/1 or shorter. Lucky stalls #2 (last 3 wins) #9 (2
wins).

(4.45) 7 Furl H/cap (31%); Last seven winners all finished 6th or
better on last outing (in last 5-44 days) with four of them finishing
6th LTO.

Most winners were well supported with only one having SP above 10-1. A
middle-high draw favoured in past. Lucky stall #15 (2 wins).

(5.15) 7 Furl Maiden (63%): 3yo horses have won all past events.
Winners generally trained at a leading yard (M Johnston is leading

trainer on 2 wins) and apart from one 8/1
shot the remainder were very well supported at odds of 4-1 or
shorter. Lucky stalls #5 (4 wins) and #3 (3 wins).

(5.45) 5 Furl H/cap for 3yo (0%): Previously open to all age groups.

A difficult race to find the winner in the
past with three of five races won by long-shots at 20-1+ odds. A low-
middle draw seems preferable with D Nicholls the leading trainer on
2 wins. Lucky stall #4 (3 wins).

The leading jockeys/trainers at this meeting since 1998 were:

Trainers - Sir M Prescott and M Johnston - 4 wins each.

Jockeys - K Darley 6 wins, S Sanders 4 wins.
