NRC OCTOBER UPDATE

First of all an important message about the NRC E Mail updates.

Understandably with high volumes of `spam' it is getting
increasingly difficult to send out bulk e mails such as this to
members/friends of NRC thus this will be the last e mail sent out in
this way .

In future the e mail updates will only be available to those who
have registered their details on the club's Yahoo messages web site -
the link to this is here

It is simple to register and providing you enable e mail messages to
be sent to your e mail address you will continue to receive the
updates in future months.

As you will know we do not bombard subscribers with updates -
generally one per month - and the e mail addresses registered on the
site are not shared with any other parties. If at any time you wish
to stop the NRC updates you simply complete the unsubscribe option .

Now onto this months news/events……………………..

CARLISLE RACE DAY -
SUNDAY 29TH OCTOBER

The club is supporting the first race on the card being the 2M4F
Northern Racing Club Novice Hurdle. We are delighted to again be
supporting a race on this prestigious card which will again feature
the £40k Cumberland Chase.

Racing starts at 12.50 and prices are £16 Members and £11 Tatts (OAP
£7).

We have not arranged a group booking as members can use their NRC
Discount Cards for this fixture saving £3 on the members price.

As always we like to see as many members as possible getting
involved with our sponsored races thus please feel free to volunteer
to assist with judging the best turned out horse for our race and/or
the post race presentations. If interested please join other NRC
members in the parade ring before our race.

MONDAY 6TH NOVEMBER

Fergusson (Racing Ahead) and either Craig Reid or John Birmingham
from the Tote - 10 To Follow applications will be available on the
night for last minute entries (closing date 8th November).

also be available as a raffle prize on the night

NORTH WEST MASTERS WEEKEND
18-19TH NOVEMBER

2006 sees the 2nd year of this innovative dual NH meeting split
between Haydock Park on Saturday 18th November and Aintree on Sunday
19th November. The feature races will be the Betfair Million at
Haydock and the Becher Chase over the National fences at Aintree.
Last years meetings attracted crowds above 20,000 over the two days
so already this is a popular early season addition to the jumps
fixture list. However care should be taken to treat these as trials
fort he big spring races as none of the first three at Haydock
featured in the Gold Cup result and none of the first four home in
the Becher Chase finished the course in the Grand National!

Nonetheless I'm sure there will be two great days jumping. Normal
prices are at Haydock £27 Club, £16 Tatts and £8 Newton whilst at
Aintree it's a single price ticket of $17 (£14 on/before 3rd Nov). A
two day ticket is also available at £33 (Club) and £26 (Tatts).

Tickets are available from either Aintree or Haydock by post or card
bookings (£1.50 fee added) on 0151 522 2929.

NB The NRC Discount Cards are not available for this Haydock fixture.

Entries are now being taken for the 2006-7 National Hunt Saturday
Nap Challenge.

This is a simple to enter competition run through the main NH Season
from 11th November 2006 to 14th April 2007.

Full rules are sent to all entrants but the basic idea is to select
one horse running at a
National Hunt meeting on each Saturday and the entry with the
highest level stake profit wins the prizes for each of the 4 Rounds
and also the Seasonal Prize.

It costs just £5 to enter for the whole season with prizes for each
round and the seasonal competition. The prize fund will be confirmed
as soon as we hear from all of last year's sponsors with the prize
fund last year topping £850 with 13 prizes awarded in total.

The overall winner also receives the 'Tote Credit' Trophy for 12
months, to be presented at the Annual NRC Racing Dinner or other
suitable event.

Selections are accepted via e mail, text or answer phone. Rules to
be similar to last year but please check for some slight alterations
this year.

To enter please complete slip below and return to NRC at 53
Dalebrook Rd, Sale, M33 3LB.

Each entry will be acknowledged and an entry number allocated. If
entrants also require a paper copy of the rules please send a SAE
with the entry form - e mail entrants will receive confirmation via
e mail of course.

Many thanks to this year & last year's generous sponsors - we hope
that members will support them in 2006-7:

Totesport and the following racecourses: Aintree, Ascot, Ayr,
Cartmel, Catterick,
Bangor, Carlisle, Haydock, Hexham, Ludlow, Newbury, Newcastle,
Uttoxeter & Wetherby,

SATURDAY NAP CHALLENGE ENTRY

Please accept this entry for the 2006-7 Competition. I am also
enclosing entry fee of £5 (payable to NRC).
