July 21st Meeting Race Trends (1998-2005)
Previous race trends can often help provide a shortlist of potential
winners in the current year's races - hopefully these brief pointers
will assist racegoers at Carlisle today. Due to the changes in the
race schedule in 2006 there are only past records for six races
today. The figure in brackets after the race details is the
favourite`s strike rate for the race and the `lucky draw` number is
the stall providing the most winners for race in previous years:
(2.10) 5 Furl Maiden for 2yo (70%): All past winners placed 4th or
better on last run within last 6-18 days. T Barron is leading
trainer with 2 wins. Statistically the best race for favourites
today. Lucky stalls #2&4.
(2.45) 1M 4F Claimer (33%): All three past winners were 6 year olds
carrying 9st 12lbs or 9st 13lbs. A low draw seen in all past
winners. Lucky stall #3
(3.15) 1M 1F H/cap for 3yo (14%): Six of the seven past winners were
placed 3rd or better on either of last two outings. Although favs
record is poor most winners were reasonably well supported with odds
of 12/1 or shorter. Lucky stalls #2&9.
(4.25) 7 Furl H/cap (35%); Last six winners all finished 6th or
better on last outing with four of them finishing 6th LTO. Most
winners were well supported with only one having SP above 10-1. A
middle-high draw favoured in past. Lucky stall #15.
(4.55) 7 Furl Maiden (56%): 3yo horses have won all past events.
Winners generally trained at a leading yard and apart from one 8/1
shot the remainder were very well supported at odds of 4-1 or
shorter. Lucky stalls #3&5.
(5.25) 5 Furl H/cap (0%): A difficult race to find the winner in the
past with three of four races won by long-shots at 20-1+ odds. A low-
middle draw seems preferable with D Nicholls the leading trainer on
2 wins. Lucky stall #4.
