July 8th Race Trends
Previous race trends can often help provide a shortlist of potential
winners in the current year's races - hopefully these brief pointers
will assist racegoers at Carlisle today. Due to the changes in the
race schedule in 2006 there are only past records for four races
today covering 2004-5 as follows:
(7.00) 5F Mdn Auction (2yo): In 2004 the first three home were all
drawn 8 or higher (12 runners) on good ground. Two were previously
unraced whilst the runner up had previously finished 5th on only
outing, also at Carlisle. Last year's race had only 5 runners on
firm ground with the first two home having low draws albeit the
winner was long odds on and was taking on horses without any placed
form so draw effects less relevant.
(8.00) 1M Selling Stks (3yo): Neither winner had been placed on last
four outings but were both reasonably well supported with SP's
between 6-1 & 8-1 both having raced in last 7-9 days. On good
ground in 2004 a high draw was seen whilst on firm ground last year
a low draw prevailed - similar to the 7.00 race trends.
(9.00) 7 Furl H'cap (3yo): Last two winners finished 5th or better
on last outing and had been rested for between 18-25 days. Stalls
4&6 provided the winners in 11 runner fields. Stalls 4&10 provided
winners/placed horses both years for those who like to back `lucky
stalls'.
(9.30) 2M 1F Mdn H'cp: Common criteria of both winners in 2004/5
include - both jt favourites, both aged 7yrs, both placed on last
run and both ran within last 11-14 days. All placed horses both
years had SP's of 10-1 or shorter and had last raced within last 9-
17 days. All placed horses drawn 5 or higher both years.
