Not only does Dane Reynolds rip.  He also listens to the Velvet Underground.  Complete boxed set.  Dane was so dehydrated from the scorching SoCal sun, before his fourth heat of the day in the final against Mick Fanning, he needed and I.V. drip of electrolytes.

If anyone knows of a charity that might be a good fit for a benefit party Wet Wed. for the next year, please let me know and I will pass it on to Jeff at the Riptide.  Please see below.

Surfers Against Mountaintop Removal: A Wet Wednesday Benefit Party

Wednesday, September 30th   8PM-2AM
The Riptide Cocktails 3639 Taraval St. @ 47th Ave, SF
415-681-tide    No cover charge.

Please join Surfpulse for the Wet Wednesday last Wednesday of the month benefit at the Riptide. http://www.surfpulse.com
This month's party will help support Climate Ground Zero and communities in Appalachia that are fighting the coal industry's practice of mountaintop removal. http://www.climategroundzero.org

We will be raffling a custom Las Olas surfboard and gift certificates to cool local businesses like the Pizza Place on Noriega, Mocha 101, free passes to the Red Vic Movie House and other great prizes.

Our feature movie will be "2 Big Days at OB, December 2008" by local filmmaker Doug Schultz.  DJ Paul will be spinning breaks, soul, reggae, funk, house and hip hop and there will be plenty of free food.

There is never a cover charge at the Riptide and a portion of the bar sales and tips will also be donated.

It's Wet Wednesday every Wednesday at the Riptide but the last Wednesday of the month is alway a benefit for a non-profit or a worthy cause.

Mountaintop removal coal mining is an atrocious form of strip mining that literally explodes the tops of mountains to get at coal buried beneath. To date, 500 mountains have been destroyed by this horrible practice, over 1200 miles of streams and rivers buried by it's debris. Not only is traditional Appalachian culture being wiped out by the mining industry the residents have developed an array of health issues due to the air pollution and water contamination caused by Mountain top removal.
