Hey All - Here it is our last day in SPI and I have finally found an unsecured
wireless site. Jane and I very much enjoyed the ABK Clinic. The wind was light
all 4 days but we had brought our Cruisers for just that reason. The weather has
been great with low 70s each day and very little rain. The Stripes gas station
just two doors away have breakfast burritos for $ .99 and our friend Avi knows
all the good places to go each evening.
I'll write more about the camp later when I have a good connection.
Andy and crew say Hi to everyone. We'll be back tomorrow evening.
Ciao until then,
Joe

Hi All,

I am looking for someone to ride down with me to La Ventana, the best wind on the Baja Peninsula!

I'll be traveling the second week of Dec. About a four-day trip, towing a travel trailer via Nogales, Los Mochis, Topolobampo Ferry and La Paz.

For you, a free one-way trip - I will pay for food, ferry and camping fees and of course gas.

Check it out... http://www.bestoflaventana.com/

I will be returning without trailer just after the New Year.

PS. I met some of you over the LTS weekend at Storrie. Michael can vouch for me... Michael?

Hope to hear from you, Matt Davidson

Possible wetter winter for nthe frozen H2O folks and possible higher water levels in the lakes for the sailors.

JFM-3 (SE NM) has much improved historic and verification skill (+19 for HSS IND. and +40 for HSS'00-09) over last month's negative values. Unfortunately, it shows yet another undecided (+/-1%) forecast. Climatological odds remain the safest bet for now, even though this region has shown a historic preference for wet El Niño winters.

JFM-4 (NE NM) features the most optimistic forecast for this season (+33%), along with outstanding cross- validated and verification skill (+38 and +40, respectively). This new forecast round has reaffirmed this optimistic forecast which is also consistent with expected El Niño conditions.

JFM-5 (NW NM & SC CO) shows a modest tilt towards a wet winter (+2%). However, cross-validated skill is much better (HSS-IND= +25) than verified skill (HSS'00-08= -33). Nevertheless, El Niño winters have shown a tendency to be wet in this region, so cautious optimism is still justified.

JFM-6 (SE CO) repeats the theme of 'wasting' good forecast skill (+36 verified skill in last decade) on small tilts in the forecast odds (-2%), while cross-validated forecast skill is the lowest of this forecast round (HSS-IND=+9). This is the part of Colorado that has the most consistent wet signal year-round with El Niño conditions, so more optimism than the odds indicate is justifiable.

And keep in mind that no previous yoga experience is necessary. See attached flyer. Feel free to forward this message.

Date ‘n’ Time: Nov. 27, Friday, 1:30-3:00 PM

Location: Yoga Gold Studio -- 215 Gold SW -- 87102

What to bring: Small towel, yoga mat if you have one [no problem if you don’t], comfortable clothes and a good attitude.

Question/concerns? Feel free to contact either myself or Jimmy Cardinale at yogaathome@....

Hi Matt,

Sounds like a great trip. I love the area. Just can't  get a away at that time. Heads up, there are some other really cool places there on the east cape.
Cabo Pulmo has a national marine park and has the distinction of being the northernmost coral reef in Mexico. There's great diving, snorkeling and windsurfing there and the town is very laid-back. No electricity or phone. There is a contingent of diehard windsurfers there. A couple of guys live there and some just drift in and out. Ask for a displaced German named Rhinehart and he can give you details on sailing the area. There's unlimited free camping down the road at Los Frailles and camping at Cabo Pulmo for a very small fee. Several restaurants in Cabo Pulmo too.

Is it safe to assume you have property in La Ventana; you are leaving a trailer? I was wondering if you have experienced any break-ins?  I have a lot in Cabo Pulmo and would like to build a casita or put a trailer there. I have heard rumors that there has been a rise in break-ins. It's hard to get any info as nobody seems to know anything or they are keeping it from public news. Have you any info?

Ron Uilkie

Aficionados of the wind, snow, and dirt,

This is going out to anybody, or anybody you know, that might be interested in an Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga Workshop. See the attached flyer. The instructor, Jimmy Cardinale, is putting out feelers to gauge interest and has penciled in the Friday after Turkey Day. It’s still a maybe and Jimmy is trying to find a studio where the class would be gratis or close to.

For those of you that don’t know about Ashtanga I’ll try to refrain from preaching a sermon on how it’s turned my body around, but I will briefly state that Ashtanga is the mother of all flow/power/vinasa type yogas. Although you aren’t required to drink the  Kool-Aid, Ashtanga is the real deal. BTW, your flexibility, or lack of, has nothing to do with the practice. Flexibility and strength, especially the core, are byproducts of this mental discipline.

If you have any questions or there’s an interest, let me know. If the interest is there, then look for a subsequent e-mail.

Every time I visit, checking out from the world is always a concern! Fishing... eating... mmmmmm. We actually snagged a beach lot six years ago and I am headed down to improve a campsite for now. Family will join me for Christmas.

If I can address power, water and security, so it's convenient for others, it may become available as a low-lux, econo-vacation rental. Pictures definitely to follow...

Cheers,
Matt

I'll be traveling the second week of Dec. About a four-day trip, towing a travel
trailer via Nogales, Los Mochis, Topolobampo Ferry and La Paz.

For you, a free one-way trip - I will pay for food, ferry and camping fees and
of course gas.

Check it out... http://www.bestoflaventana.com/

I will be returning without trailer just after the New Year.

PS. I met some of you over the LTS weekend at Storrie. Michael can vouch for
me... Michael?

Hope to hear from you, Matt Davidson

Ya think cannon cove point is still for sale?   Now that would be worth a discussion for the club..
Also on Google maps it has it listed as Cannon AFB recreation area.  Is that because its owned by the
Air Force?

Maybe the club could get one of 'em and site out our new executive suite.

Here's a gamble riskier than cards in Sin City: buy a piece of lake front property in northeastern New Mexico.

People with a few hundred dollars burning a hole in their pocket can bid on one acre lots near Conchas Lake Wednesday at the Fourth Judicial District Court in Las Vegas Wednesday. At 10 a.m. the state Taxation and Revenue Department will auction off 116 lots a half mile to a mile from the lake to recover $73,000 in back taxes, penalties and interest. The lots are among 1300 properties total San Miguel County turned over to the state last year for delinquent property taxes.

We need a few more days like Thursday! Conchas with Justin, Nick and Michael. Beatiful smooth westerly winds 24-30mph all afternoon and on into dark. Where the light go? Water temp in the mid 50s.

Friday a the Butte with Justin, Tom, Lee, Edmond and Michael. Wouthwest winds were up and down. They started strong and tapered off later in the afternoon. It was "wind wrestling" at it's finest. Water temps were reasonable in the upper 50s.

It was some fun sailing all the way around. Wish you were there!

Looks like the forecast for Conchas tomorrow is good! West winds 20-35mph, air 75deg. I'm checking on water temps with the park ranger. Justin & I are leaving in the morning to get there around 11 or noon.

Let It Blow!
