Storrie Salt Shake from Saturday:

Paul, Kathi, and I showed up from ABQ; there was a guy named John
from SF; and doctor Steve from Taos. Leeches on 5.0s and 5.6s were
heavily twisting... I recorded a 36.3 mph on my GPS. And that was on
a reach where I had to unhook to keep from blowing up. I never got
to comfortably pull the trigger. I think 40 mph is totaly obtainable
in the relatively flat water on the upwind side of the lake.

There were also about four kiters there, which tried all day to get
dialed-in. Peter Wilson and fam showed up late in the day. I didn't
see it happen but Peter somehow wound up on shore and his kite was
draped over a car. He got his bell rung pretty good and was last
seen on his way to the hospital for stitches. Hopefully he'll update
us and say there was nothing seriusly injured...

If if makes any of you that opted to go to Cochiti feel better, yes
there was a downside -- we had to breath smoke from an upwind house
fire for a while. But since the wind was so strong, the smoke passed
relatively quickly... ;^)
