Yup, pretty similar for me. I have a light GPS -- a Garmin eTrex --
but it was a little too bulky for running and the data was often wrong
at that level, e.g. it would say I had a max speed of 16km/u when I
never done more than 10km/u. That was just the GPS getting confused.
It would similar lose chunks if I ran through woods. The ease of use
of the s/w sold me when I saw the manual on the web. The watch lived
up to its promise there.
I definitely felt cheated when I discovered that 'my view' meant you
could decide whether you wanted HR OR pace OR dist not your
combination of the above on one view. This is the one feature that the
watch badly needs. It isn't a 'killer app', more of a hygiene factor
that stops the watch from doing what it obviously should do. Having
said that, if it had that, I would not be looking for another watch
for the next few years! A nice-to-have would be more web integration
of the s/w, e.g. with online coach -- there are a few good ones
available these days that are automated. It would be nice if they
could link in, see what you had run and set your programs
appropriately for the next few weeks.
Cheers

I think the Nike Software was the deciding factor for me, sync with a Mac and show graphically for quick understanding.
I also wish you had custom view's on the watch; I would prefer to not have to switch around when running to see distance and hr for example.

Just a quick check. I am having trouble finding a track I can
trust. The only highschool nearby that has a track open is an old
one and I am not sure if it is metric. Anyone know what the
triangles mean. There are staggered starts that are each marked 400
and 800 but I'm not sure where the finish is. If it is a metric
track it finishes where the inside track starts but if it isn't the
finish will be behind it, right?
Anyway - I ran one lap on the track and my offset is 1081; I'm 5'6"
and I ran about a 8:41 pace to calibrate it. Does that sound right?
Any help is appreciated.

I've now changed the batteries in all three parts. The SDM pod is easy (and fairly frequent, at least at high mileage). The HRM is less frequent, but if anything, it's easier. I found the watch itself to be the hardest, mostly because I was having trouble juggling the watch and band (which kept getting in my way), the cover, and the battery. It's still not hard, though. It didn't even lose the odometer or scheduled workouts, even though I did the all- five-button reset. All you need to do any of them is a quarter and the new battery.
Hope that helps. Austin

The watch seems to go into a strange mode where it starts to sample at
much lower rate. I noticed that the graphs were very low resolution
on a recent upload. Looking at the export file for the workouts, I
noticed that the sampling frequency was 40 seconds compared to the
normal 10 seconds. Does anyone know how the watch gets in this state?
If I reload the watch from the software it goes back to 10 seconds.
Does the system switch to a lower sampling frequency when the memory
is getting low on the watch because I haven't synced in a while?
Also, does anyone have the watch randomly reset to Jan 1 and 12:00.
I've had mine since January and haven't had to change the battery
yet, but then again, I have been doing fairly light running due to my
schedule.
Incidentally, after coming back home after 2 weeks away, I decided to
try my HRM strap again before I hauled it up to Peoria on Thursday.
(Peoria is where the repair center is, and I was going to be there
for a meeting anyhow.) Mysteriously, it started up and worked just
fine. Go figure.
I won't bother taking it to the repair center since it's working
flawlessly again, but if it acts up again, I'll send it off to them...

About how many miles (or time on) is the battery life for the Triax Elite foot pod. I've had it conk out on me twice during runs, which is very annoying. Is there any notice?

Hi there - new member here, about to buy a Nike cv10... but - it seems
it does not connect up with a pc. is that the case, and if so is it

If I buy the same shoes which I have now but with .5 size more. Do I
need to re-calibrate the SDM again or use the old calibration.
Thanks.

Remember that the treadmill accuracy is not exact either. In fact
Polar found the accuracy of most treadmills to be around 97-98%
accurate. So it doesn't mean it is the watch. A better test would be
to measure off a distance and run that distance to be sure of an exact
distance.

Just downloaded and installed the Mac OS X software, and I initially ran into
the same
problem you had - no "sync" button, and when I set the watch to "PC", it could
not find a
connection. Fortunately, there's an easy solution: the "read me" file says you
must plug
the USB dongle device in BEFORE you start the program for the first time. I
shut down the
program, made sure the USB device was attached, re-started the program --
problem
solved.

Hi guys,
I ran 2 miles on the treadmill with speed 13.4 km/hr, and had a rest
for 2 minuites. I ran again 2 miles after the rest on the same speed,
but on the data it shows slight difference between the two sessions.
Anyway the speed shown in the data was 13 km/hr only which is not
right.
Does anyone experience the same problem?

Group - I'm doing a little market research and I have a question for
everyone.
When you considered buying your watch (Nike or other), what were the
main features/benefits you looked for before you purchased the watch?
Another question: what feature/benefit do you wish was available on
the watch, but wasn't?
Thanks for any feedback you might have,
Terry
Hi all. I went for a long run a couple of weeks ago, my Triax Elite
HRM/SDM was working just fine. I then didn't have a chance to use
the system for a couple of weeks. Yesterday I prepared to go out for
a run, and I couldn't get the watch to find the HRM. I tried a new
battery, re-pairing the HRM to the watch -- no dice. There's nothing
at all that gets the HRM to indicate it's doing anything.
Any suggestions? I'm going to call Nike today, but I suspect it's
going to involve sending the strap in for a service call. (Hopefully
they don't ask for the watch as well -- at least I'm getting distance
data right now...)
Thanks!
Peace and Prosperity,
Dipesh
I use the manual method. If I run a mile and it reads 1.10 miles or 10% over and 1255 is the watch setting. Then I set it lower buy 10% or 122 = 1133.
Then try again and recalibrate again as needed.
Mine is +/_ 5% which is fine with me, maybe if you run at one speed you can gain better accuracy.
I also developed a excel SS to recalibrate the results for a race, see my post # 17. Simple logic is if you know correct distance 26.2 miles and watch reads 27.0 miles, then reduce distance numbers and speed by 3% . Graph is for a sub 4hr marathon.
Hi there,
I re-calibrated the SDM and the previous offset value was 1032.
I ran 400 meter and the watch reads 412 m so I adjusted the distance
to be 400.
After checking the offset value I founded it 1004. If the watch reads
more than 400 meter so the offset value should be less than 1000.
I thought the SDM calculates the offset value based on the existing
one 1032.
Does anyone experience the same thing? or I need to calibrate again
but change the offset value to 1000.
Best Regards...
It's an average over the segment. And, I think, it's only actually an average over the last 10 miles. I'm marathon training, so my long runs are in the 15-17 range right now, and if I just do a "run 15 miles at 9:30 pace" workout, when it's done, rather than showing me the total distance (in this case 15 miles), it shows me 10 miles. All the data is there, and if I sync or look in Stats mode it's right; it's just on the workout screen. Anyone else notice this?

In chrono mode, it's instantaneous pace. In workout mode, it'll give you both instantaneous and average pace. If you're not running set distances, you can create a 99 mile workout, which should be long enough for most runs, and just stop it when you're done.

Greetings. I recently purchased the Nike Triax Elite HRM/SDM system. It's great,
but there's
one piece of information I can't seem to find, either in the manual or online.
What, exactly,
is the pace display showing when the watch is in Chron mode? Is it instantaneous
pace?
Average pace over the total of the run? Pace averaged over the last split? Pace
averaged
over the last minute? I would really like during my run to keep track of the
total
accumulated average pace -- i.e., am I maintaining an 8:30 mile, or whatever --
but don't
know if this is possible with this watch.
Thanks for the help.

PS- are there any other online communities or sites dedicated to this watch?
