I dont know how many guys still get this posting or how many people are
interested but I
was planning on getting together with a few guys on Saturday Dec 13th in Boston
for the
annual off season meeting. Ill have more details on time and that in a few weeks
but I just
wanted to throw it out there and see if there is any interest in getting
together.

Hey guys,

I hope everyone has had a good season.  I got the email below from
Bruce Leith of the Elkton Club and told him I would pass this along
to all of you guys.  I think they would be willing to play overhand
but you would have to check.

Gentlemen:
Major League Baseball came out with their schedule today and I wanted
to see if any of you were interested in a road trip to see your Sox
in Baltimore or Philadelphia and get some vintage base ball games in
while  you're here!

It just so happens that the 3rd Annual Washington DC Classic (AKA The
Hottest Tournament on Earth!) is scheduled for August 1 and 2 in the
heart of Washington DC in the shadows of the Washington Momenument,
the Jefferson Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial.  It coensides in
2009 with the National SABR Convention that will take place in DC
from July 31 to August 2.  As luck would have it, the Red Sox are
playing the Orioles in Baltimore that weekend if any of you are
interested.  Last year's festival was 12 clubs including:  Ohio
Village, Greensboro Patriots, NY Mutuals, NY Gothams, Brooklyn
Atlantics, Flemington Neshanock, Talbot Fair Plays, Elkton Eclipse,
Chesapeake Nine of Baltimore, Rochester, and Potomac BBC of
Washington.

   Unfortunately, the OBP festival will be the same weekend so there
will be many openings, but several clubs from the Midwest have
already inquired and one from Minnesota is already confirmed.  If you
are interested, let us know so we can make sure to pencil you in one
of the spots...and yes, we do have an "in" to be able to purchase
decent seats for the Sox-O's.

   In addition, if any club wants to come see Philadelphia's semi-new
park, the Sox are playing there the weekend of June 12-14.  We'd love
for you to come to Elkton to play the Eclipse and maybe one of the
new clubs in the area:  The Diamondstate BBC of Wilmington, Delaware
or the Havre de Grace Dauntless.  Also, the Chesapeake Nine of
Baltimore would love to play you as well if you are interested.  We
have a really good "in" there as well and can get you what ever level
of tickets you want.  There may even be a couple of freebees floating
around.

   If you could pass this email along to any of the clubs in New
England that are Red Sox rooters who may be interested, we sure would
appreciate it.  We hope to hear from you soon if you are interested
or have any questions!

Hey guys,

I know this is short notice but is there anyone out there interested in
playing this Sunday in Marblehead, MA. Lynn is playing Melrose and it
looks like Melrose will be very short. The field we will be playing at
is perfect with a wooden grandstand that was built in 1910

Hey,

I know this may be a little last minute but this coming weekend the
Lynn Live Oaks had a game scheduled against the Dirgio guys from Maine
but unfortunately the Maine guys can't come down.  Lynn has around 12
or 13 guys coming to the game so if there is a team or even members of
a team that wanted to come on Saturday April 26th 12pm to Danvers
please let me know.

We usually start the day early at a local watering hole near the start
of the parade route. and gather around 10am for the parade. It would
be great if we could get some of the clubs to participate.

You could send the entire team or just a couple of guys. Mudville was
gracious enough to help us out last year and they were the hit of the
parade. I hope they can come again this year!

We have been marching in the parade for the past 6 years and it has
been a great way to kick the season off.

We finish marching around noon and head to a pub to continue the
celebrating. Would love to buy you guys a pint!

We still have to pick a date for your trip to Western Mass to play the
Pioneers. Here are some suggestions:
Friday Night May 23 or 30. We could play 1, 9-inning game or 2, 7-
inning games if you like, and start at 7pm or 8pm. Or whenever you
like. This would be under the lights, obviously.
We could also play Sunday May 25 at noon or Saturday May 24 at 2pm
Sunday June 1 or Sunday July 6 is available.
Sat Aug 9 noon or Sunday Aug 10 noon
After this it would be late September

Guys, I honestly didn't think that any of the 60s clubs would care or
even notice that I'd re-purposed the site for the new league.  The
site wasn't getting any hits and the vast majority of the underhand
clubs weren't sending updates and scores/directions to games, etc.

I just wanted to make an interactive site for league members to post
info and have discussions, as well as to keep track of standings.  I
was not trying to belittle the 60s clubs.  I have enjoyed playing '61
games against many of those clubs over the past few years (except the
severe beatings by Waterbury).

Ultimately, I was hoping we might eventually have 4 divisions, with
two '61s and two '86s.  Then we could have an 1886 and 1861 champion
each year, which I think would be really cool.

To remedy the problem, I am adding an 1860s section to the site with
links to all the clubs that were on the old site.  Brian Sheehy is
going to administer that section, so e-mail him with concerns about
that part of the site.  Give me a few days on that, as I now feel the
need to drink...a lot.
