What better way to celebrate baseball half-way through the season than to meet
at The Baseball Tavern, 1270 Boylston Street, Boston on a warm Monday evening,
July 13, and keep an eye on the home run derby! The Boston Chapter is offering a
social gathering up on the third floor open-air deck at the Tavern, and we
expect the weather gods will keep ol' Jupiter Pluvius away from the park. The
party will begin at 6 PM and will start with baseball talk, with a buffet
offered at 7 PM. Along with the food and alot more baseball talk, and we'll
also hear from a few popular baseball writers, including John Holway, who has a
forthcoming book on the Heavenly Twins, and Saul Wisnia, author of "For the Love
of the Red Sox." Bill Nowlin also reminds us that July marks the 50th
anniversary of the arrival of Pumpsie Green in Boston and we will be sure to
commemorate this important milestone.
The SABR Boston Chapter sends a special invitation to the vintage baseballists
of New England and we encourage interest in 19th century baseball. Bring your
19th century attitude, your team, and your enthusiasm for baseball history to a
meeting of great baseball minds at The Baseball Tavern on July 13!

Hey guys,
I am working on setting up a vintage base ball day at the NH Fisher Cats in Manchester, NH on Sunday May 24th. It is a 1:05 start and they are playing the Trenton Thunder (Yankees farm club). What they are thinking of doing is having the vintage players march out on the field and they may introduce all of the different clubs. During the game they will let us set up a table and interact with the crowd.
I am also working on getting a game against a group of over 30 baseball players from Manchester to play against us after the Fisher Cats game. There was also talk of having a get together at one of the local downtown bars.
Would anyone be interested in attending? Right now the only thing confirmed is the Fisher Cats game. Let me know.
The Granite would definately be interested in participating in this. Glad you had luck with the Fisher Cats because last year I tried to set up a charity game for Fallen MPD officer Michael Briggs and they never got back to me. So good work getting them to agree to this.
