Vintage Enthusiasts,
Just wanted to announce to all of you the newly organized "Friends of
Vintage Base Ball" (FoVBB). Please visit the website
www.friendsofvintagebaseball.org
FoVBB is an organization dedicated to the promotion of the game as it
was played in the 19th century. Our purpose is to facilitate and
preserve the customs, culture, history and spirit of vintage base ball
through public education, awareness and participation.
Currently we are working with the Coalition to Strengthen the
Sheldon/Charter Oak Neighborhood (CSS/CON) and the City of Hartford,
Connecticut to designate a field of play in Colt Park for vintage base
ball. The Coltsville district in Hartford has recently been named a
National Historic Landmark and is on its way to becoming a National Park.
The Hartford Senators, Newtown Sandy Hooks and Hartford Dark Blues are
involved with this project and look forward to using these grounds.
The grounds will be open to all vintage teams. Any of you who would
like to use the field are more than welcome. It will be a great
central location for the New England clubs to meet you don't want to
travel from one corner to the other. The more the field is used the
merrier.
If you would like to schedule a game you can contact me
(capngrit@mac.com ) or Ray "Shutta" Shaw (rcshaw1@earthlink.net ).
Here's to a vintage 2009!
