Congratulations to all, on a great weekend of base ball!  A huge "Huzzah" to  Paul Procopio and Terry Bishop for putting it all together. The Senators enjoyed playing against some of the finest vintage ballists in the country.

Again all of the Essex and Waterbury guys had a great time and if you do it again we would love to attend, and Jim Wigren told me that you were busy doing 17 other things so dont worry about not meeting me- Im not overly exciting.

 

As far as the Clapp Park results (that is a really nice park as well)- we beat Elizabeth 16-8. I wanted to say that the umpire that did our game did a great job and we all enjoyed ourselves. Im never good with highlights, but Steve Buckley and Jim Wigren combined for a solid pitching performance and everyone on our roster hit the ball well.

I want to e-mail the Sports Department and get a final update on the entire tournament.

I was really disappointed in the crowd. We generally draw 2,000 people on average to our home games. I was on radio, T.V. and had numerous articles and ads in all local media to promote the game. I guess cranks and bugs were partying for Memorial Day!

On behalf of the Essex Base Ball Club/ Waterbury Connors I would like to thank all involved with the Pittsfield Tournament.  We played two very good games on two very nice fields against two fine teams.  All of us there enjoyed playing the 1880’s rules and look forward to trying them again in the future.
