Toledo Mud Hens, 3-2.

Ryan, who entered the game hitting just .167

Single A

The Clinton LumberKings broke open a tight game with a
six-run seventh as they defeated the Quad City River
Bandits 9-2 at John O’Donnell Stadium. The Bandits and
LumberKings split a four-game series to start the
second half of the season, with Clinton outscoring
Quad City 17-4 as they took the final two games of the
series.

Clinton took a 1-0 lead on a Rick Asadoorian homer in
the top of the first, but the Bandits struck back in
the bottom of the inning. Kaulana Kuhaulua walked and
then swiped second and third base. Seth Davidson
plated Kuhaulua on an infield single to the right
side.

After Clinton expanded the lead on a two-out RBI in
the second and a solo homer in the third, Quad City
made brought the deficit back to one run in the
fourth. Danny Matienzo drilled a one-out solo homer in
the fourth, a blast to right center. It was Matienzo’s
seventh long ball of the season, and his third of the
series. With the blast, Matienzo became the first
Bandit to homer in consecutive games this season.

But the LumberKings broke the game open with their
six-run seventh. After T.J. Prunty allowed a walk and
a single to open the seventh, he was replaced by Peter
Tautor following a sacrifice bunt. Tautor committed an
error on Rick Asadoorian’s dribbler out in front of
the plate, and then the floodgates opened. Hector
Lebron had a two-run single through the right side of
the infield, and Pedro Quero had a two-run hit to put
Clinton up 7-2. Manny Santana capped the rally with a
two-run double to close the scoring.

Prunty was dealt the loss after getting charged with
five runs over 6.1 innings. Tautor allowed three runs
on four hits in 1.2 innings, while Nick Blackburn
struck out two in a perfect ninth. In two outings,
Blackburn has not allowed a baserunner and has struck
out four in two innings.

Denny Hocking emerged from "behind the scenes" to lead
the offense of the Minnesota Twins.

Hocking homered, tripled and scored three runs to help
the Twins avoid a three-game sweep with an 8-3 victory
over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Making just his 11th start of the campaign, Hocking
matched a season high with three hits. He also
collected three hits on May 18 against the Chicago
White Sox.

After Hocking walked with one out in the top of the
first inning, Corey Koskie launched a 1-0 pitch from
Brewers starter Matt Kinney (5-6) over the right field
wall to put the Twins ahead for good, 2-0.
