Double A
==================================
Peter Bauer threw eight strong innings and John-Ford
Griffin ripped a two-run double in the top of the
ninth inning to lift the New Haven Ravens past the New
Britain Rock Cats, 4-3.
Bauer (3-4) allowed two runs -- one earned -- and four
singles, fanning seven and walking two, to get his
first win since May 6. Juan Pena gave up a solo homer
to Jeff Deardorff before retiring the side in the
bottom of the ninth to earn his first save. With the
scored tied at 2-2 in the ninth, Alexis Rios and Gabe
Gross hit back-to-back singles with two outs and
Griffin followed with his 16th double of the year to
make the score 4-2. Rios had three hits in the contest
and scored twice and Gross chipped in with two singles
and an RBI for New Haven, which snapped a three-game
slide.
Deardorff also singled and scored in the seventh for
New Britain, which was outhit, 12-5. Victor Moreno
(0-1) gave up two runs and four hits in 3 2/3 innings
to get tagged with the loss.

Nathan Robertson pitched 7 2/3 strong innings and
Hiram Bocachica had two hits and an RBI to lead the
Toledo Mud Hens past the Rochester Red Wings, 5-2.
Robertson (4-4) allowed two runs and six hits,
striking out eight, to pick up the win. Fernando
Rodney struck out the side in the ninth inning to
notch his 14th save. Bocachica laced an RBI double in
the fourth and singled and scored on a double play in
the ninth inning for Toledo, which has won four of its
last five games.
Shane Andrews hit a first-inning sacrifice fly and
Brandon Marsters ripped a run-scoring double in the
eighth for Rochester, which dropped to 13-17 this year
at Frontier Field. James Baldwin (0-1) surrendered
three unearned runs and a pair of hits in two innings
to take the loss.

Single A

Scott Tyler allowed just one run in 5.1 innings and
struck out five as the Quad City River Bandits
defeated the Peoria Chiefs 5-1 on Saturday night at
O’Brien Field. Tyler, the Minnesota Twins’
fifth-ranked prospect, had not won since his Midwest
League debut on April 5.
Quad City scored twice in the top of the first to take
an early lead. Kaulana Kuhaulua and Seth Davidson had
back-to-back one-out singles, Bryan Kennedy walked to
load the bases. Danny Matienzo followed with a fly
ball to deep right to score a run for a 1-0 Quad City
lead. Omar Burgos followed by lining a single to left
to score Davidson.
After Omar Burgos threw out a baserunner at the plate
in the bottom of the first, the Bandits scored twice
more in the second frame. Jose Morales tripled into
right-center to lead off the frame, and scored on a
groundout from Garrett Guzman. With two outs, Kaulana
Kuhaulua reached base on an error. Seth Davidson hit a
flare single into right-center to apparently put men
at the corners. But Kuhaulua noticed that none of the
three Peoria players picked up the ball, and scored on
a mad dash from third to the plate.
The River Bandits scored once more, this time against
reliever Josh Teekel, in the sixth frame. With one
out, Trent Oeltjen had a base hit into right field.
With aggressive baserunning, Oeltjen stretched an
apparent single into a double, and then scored easily
on Kuhaulua’s double down the third base line.
Peoria finally broke Scott Tyler’s shutout bid in the
sixth inning, as John Santor had an RBI single
following a double from Travis Hanson.
Tyler was dominant at times as he earned his first win
in his last 13 starts. Tyler struck out five and
walked three, while allowing just four base hits.
Perhaps his strongest performance came in the fifth
inning when, after walking the first two men, he
struck out Santor and Terry Evans before coaxing a
lazy inning-ending popout from Tyler Parker.
The Bandits bullpen pitched very well behind Tyler,
not allowing a hit over 3.2 combined innings. Peter
Tautor went 1.2 frames, Steve Murray retired the only
man he faced, and Tristan Crawford retired all five he
went against to close it out.

Minnesota Twins
==================================
A well-rested Miguel Batista tossed six strong innings
and Luis Gonzalez drove in four runs as the Arizona
Diamondbacks posted a 9-2 victory over the Minnesota
Twins.
Batista (4-3) recorded his first victory since May 11,
yielding one unearned run and four hits with three
walks and seven strikeouts.
"I was pitching on eight days' rest, but my allergies
have bothered me for the past four days," Batista
said. "Tonight, I came out and was hitting my curves
and breaking balls."
Batista surrendered two singles in the bottom of the
first, one in the second and one in the sixth.
"He was very sharp tonight," Arizona manager Bob
Brenly added. "He continues to amaze us. He was in
the bullpen earlier this week, but he came back and
didn't miss a beat. Minnesota has a good hitting
lineup and he was getting broken bats and weak outs."
