Josh Rabe knocked in a pair of runs and Henry Bonilla tossed six solid innings
to lead the New Britain Rock Cats past the New Haven Ravens, 4-2, in the first

Rabe, who now leads the Eastern League with 48 RBI, lifted a sacrifice fly in
the third frame and singled home a run in the seventh inning. Bonilla (3-1)
allowed two hits and six hits over six frames for the win. Jason Bartlett, who
was driven in twice by Rabe, knocked in the go-ahead run with a fielder's choice

faced to pick up his sixth save of the season for the Rock Cats, who snapped
their five-game losing streak.
John-Ford Griffin ripped a run-scoring double and scored in the opening frame to
supply New Haven with a 2-0 lead. Chris Baker (3-3) surrendered four runs -- two
earned -- and five hits over 6 2/3 innings in the loss for the Ravens, who have

Double A - Game Two
==================================

Danny Solano knocked in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning to
deliver the New Haven Ravens past the New Britain Rock Cats, 6-5, and earn a
split of the doubleheader.

Solano, who finished with a pair of hits, laced a one-out single in the 11th to
drive in Rich Thompson, snapping a 5-5 score. Thompson, who also had two hits,
singled in two runs in the second inning and Justin Singleton added a two-run
base hit in the next frame to give New Haven a 4-1 lead. Guillermo Quiroz hit a
run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth to even the game at 5-5 for the
Ravens, who improved to 4-2 in extra-inning contests. Hugo Castellanos (3-5)
hurled four scoreless innings of relief, yielding four hits and striking out
four to earn the win.

Josmir Romero (1-5), who finished with five strikeouts, surrendered a run and
four hits in 3 1/3 innings to suffer the loss for New Britain, which has dropped
six straight games. Josh Rabe had three hits and knocked in a run, and Kelley
Gulledge had a pair of hits, including a fifth-inning home run that sparked a
four-run rally for the Rock Cats.

From the Miracle Website:

The team that makes the fewest mistakes wins the big ballgames and the Fort
Myers Miracle have done just that over the first three games of their series
with the Dunedin Blue Jays. The Miracle capitalized on some Blue Jay mistakes in
the eighth and went on to win 3-2 on Friday night at Hammond Stadium dropping
their magic number to clinch the division to three.

Jim Abbott tossed a gem of a game, for the Miracle, going 7.2 shutout innings
allowing six hits, while striking out four and picking up his fifth victory of
the season. The Miracle got a run in the sixth when James Tomlin singled and
advanced all the way to third on a failed pick off attempt by Dustin McGowan.
Tomlin scored on a sac fly from Watkins. In the eighth, the Miracle scored two
runs without a hit. Three walks, two wild pitches and another failed pick off
attempt gave the Miracle a 3-0 lead.

Beau Kemp tossed the ninth and after giving up two runs, faced pinch hitter Kurt
Keene with the tying run at third and two out. Keene hit a hard ground ball up
the middle and Luis Maza made a backhanded play and threw out Keene.

Quad City surged back from a nine-run deficit but could not get the tying run to
the plate in the bottom of the ninth on Friday night as they were defeated,
10-7, by the Lansing Lugnuts at John O’Donnell Stadium. The Bandits banged out a
season-high 15 hits but came up short as they lost for just the third time on an
eight-game homestand against the top two teams in the league.

It took just two pitches for Lansing to take an early lead. After T.J. Prunty’s
first pitch missed the strike zone, Lansing’s Felix Pie drove a solo shot just
left of center field. Three batters later, Jason Fransz hit a blast just to the
right of center for a 2-0 Lugnuts lead. Prior to Friday’s game, Prunty had
allowed just two home runs in 59.1 innings.
Lansing added to the advantage in the third inning, putting up five runs against
Prunty. Robinson Chirinos drove in a run with a groundout, and Buck Coats had an
RBI single before Kevin Collins belted a three-run deep to right center field
for an 8-0 lead.

Jesus Merchan broke up the shutout bid with an unorthodox inside-the-park home
run in the fourth inning. Merchan hit a slicing pop down the left field line,
when Lansing’s Keith Butler made a diving attempt. He came up short, and the
ball trickled into Quad City’s bullpen. Thinking it was a foul ball, Butler
moved back towards left field. But umpire Shane Alexander ruled it fair, and
Merchan kept motoring for a stand up inside-the-park homer.

The Lugnuts scored twice in the sixth inning. Prunty struck out the first two
before Robinson Chirinos doubled into left-center to chase Prunty from the game.
Tristan Crawford, making his Quad City debut, allowed three straight singles,
including RBI from Fransz and Collins, for a 10-1 lead.

Quad City began a furious comeback bid in the sixth inning. Bryan Kennedy had an
RBI single to score Merchan, and Jose Morales had a two-out single to drive home
Garrett Guzman in the seventh.

The Bandits pushed three runs across against reliever Federico Baez in the
eighth frame. With two outs, Kaulana Kuhaulua popped a two-out double down the
right field line, and Morales followed with his second RBI single of the game,
scoring both Guzman and Kuhaulua.

Baez returned for the ninth inning, allowing a two-out single from Kennedy to
slice the lead to 10-7. But closer Jason Wylie came on to strike out Jose Liz to
close out the ball game.

Prunty allowed nine runs, a season-high for a Quad City pitcher, in 5.2 innings
of work. Crawford allowed one run on four hits in 2.1 innings in his Midwest
League debut. Steve Murray pitched a scoreless ninth.

Chris Gomez's two-out, two-run double in the top of the 11th inning snapped a
tie as the Minnesota Twins posted a wild 7-5 victory over the struggling San
Diego Padres.

Gomez, who had a season-high three RBI, sent a 3-1 pitch from Rod Beck (0-1)
into the left field corner. San Diego left fielder Rondell White slipped on the
grass trying to keep the ball in front of him and Doug Mientkiewicz and A.J.
Pierzynski were able to score easily.
Gomez, who played with San Diego from 1996-2001, entered the game with just two
RBI this season and had not driven in a run since May 2 at Boston.

"I don't know if that adds too much it," Gomez said of beating his former team.
"I've got a lot of friends over there and I wish them well. But I want to beat
them while we're here. It was just good to get the win. That's a typical
(Padres manager) Bruce Bochy team and they kept battling even until the last
out."
