==================================
Aaron Miles hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning, lifting the
Charlotte Knights over the Rochester Red Wings, 4-2, in the regularly scheduled

Miles' two-run blast snapped a 2-2 tie and gave Charlotte just its second win in

inning as Charlotte rallied from a 2-0 deficit to send the game into extra
frames. Felix Diaz went six strong innings for the Knights, allowing four hits

Much thanks to Kevin, who changed my flat tire for me. (I owe you a beer!)
From the Miracle Website:
In order to win a division championship you not only have to be good, but a
little lucky as well. The Fort Myers Miracle proved they were both on Thursday
night at Hammond Stadium, defeating the Dunedin Blue Jays 5-4 in 10 innings.
With two on and nobody out and the Miracle trailing by a run in the bottom of
the 10th, Jason Kubel hit a hot smash towards the shortstop that looked to be a
sure double play. The base umpire, Chris Tiller, didn’t have enough time to get
out of the way as the ball hit him and then caromed off the runner at second,
Brett Tamburrino. By the time Blue Jay shortstop Russ Adams picked up the ball,
all the runners were safe. Tamburrino came into score on a Michael Sandoval
grounder to short, that forced the runner at second. After an intentional walk
to pinch hitter Jake Mauer, Greg Blum hit a line drive, base hit to left that
scored Joe Mauer to win the game.
The Blue Jays took the lead in the top of the tenth on an RBI single from Jason
Perry. The Miracle took their first lead of the night, when Jason Kubel hit his
third homer of the season in the bottom of the eighth, but the Blue Jays tied it
on a two out, two strike hit by Aaron McEachran in the top of the ninth, sending
the game to extra innings.
Matt Yeatman tossed a solid game going seven innings allowing two runs on five
hits, while walking one and striking out two. The Miracle magic number to clinch
the first half division title is down to four.

The River Bandits came back from a 2-0 deficit and Erik Lohse went three
scoreless innings to pick up the win on his 23rd birthday as the Quad City River
Bandits defeated the Lansing Lugnuts 3-2 in ten innings on Thursday night at
John O’Donnell Stadium. Seth Davidson scored the game-tying run and the
game-winning run, while Trent Oeltjen had the game-tying RBI and chopped a
single to the right side to send the Bandits to victory.
Down 2-1, the Bandits put two men on base but couldn’t score in the seventh.
But Quad City pushed across the tying run in the bottom of the eighth. Seth
Davidson led off the frame with a single into right, and was bunted to second by
Danny Matienzo. After Bryan Kennedy was hit by a pitch, Burgos popped out. With
two outs, lefthander Ryan O’Malley was called upon to face lefty Trent Oeltjen.
Oeltjen lined a single into center to score Davidson for a 2-2 tie.
After Lohse pitched a perfect top of the tenth, Quad City forced across the
winning run in the bottom of the inning. Davidson again led off the frame with a
single, and moved to second when Kennedy hit a flare single into right. After
Omar Burgos legged out a fielder’s choice to keep the inning alive, Oeltjen hit
a chopper that went for off of Lansing’s Donny Hood for a game-winning single
into right. Davidson scored the winning run as the River Bandits improved to 4-3
in extra-inning contests this year.
The Lugnuts took advantage of a Burgos error to take the lead in the top of the
first inning. With two away, Burgos mishandled Buck Coats’ sharply hit ground
ball, allowing Coats to take first. Donny Hood then split the right-center gap
with a double to bring home the first run of the game.
Lansing added to the edge in the third inning, as Robinson Chirinos led off with
a solo homer to straightaway center. Chirinos’ sixth blast of the season, only
the fourth given up by Jason Miller this season, gave the Lugnuts a 2-0 lead.
Quad City sliced the lead in half in the fifth, as Scott Whitrock led off by
driving a solo homer to left. The no-doubt line shot was Whitrock’s first as a
Bandit, and his eighth as a pro.
Lohse pitched three hitless innings to get the victory for Quad City. He
replaced Jason Miller, who pitched seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned)
on just two hits. After surrendering Chirinos’ solo homer in the third, Miller
retired 15 straight men, striking out six, in one of his finest outings of the
season.

Kyle Lohse responded well to his first loss in a month for the Minnesota Twins.
Lohse worked eight strong innings and Eddie Guardado pitched in and out of
trouble in the ninth as the Twins posted a 5-2 victory over the San Francisco
Giants.
Lohse (5-4) had not lost since April 26 before suffering a defeat in his last
outing last Friday against Seattle despite allowing just three runs in eight
innings. The 24-year-old righthander retired the first 11 Giants in this one and
allowed two runs and seven hits.
"It's nice to feel good about getting a win out there," Lohse said. "I didn't
feel I had the best command of my stuff, but I got through it. I was just being
more aggressive and trying to get ahead of hitters."
Lohse improved to 3-0 with a 1.73 ERA in his last three road starts. He actually
went the distance in his last two outings on the road.
