Catcher Erik Kratz drove in three runs with a homer and a single as the
New Hampshire Fisher Cats opened the season with a 7-6 win over the New
Britain Rock Cats Saturday in Manchester, N.H.
Kratz hit a two-run homer off reliever Anthony Swarzak (0-1) in the fifth
inning to give the Fisher Cats a 5-3 lead. His sixth inning RBI single
extended the lead to 7-3.
Mike MacDonald (1-0) worked five innings for the win. Lee Gronkiewicz, the
fifth New Hampshire pitcher, got the save, getting two outs with the bases
loaded in the eighth and working the ninth.
The Rock Cats outhit the Fisher Cats, 10-8. Korey Feiner had three singles
and drove in two runs in the eighth as the Rock Cats closed to 7-5.
Garrett Guzman went 3-for-5 and hit a home run in the ninth inning to make
it 7-6 before Gronkiewicz struck out Brock Peterson to end the game.
