Presidents' Day race for sure in Brockton. it'll be 28 more years before
we get snowed out again. see you at the starting line next to the tower
at 2 p.m.
Feb 16 - Presidents' day race in Brockton?? Or do we assume snow?
Feb 22 - USATF NE Champs 3000 m at Harvard 20 min limit. Help also
appreciated.
March 28 = USA Masters Nationals - 1pm. Up to 5 race sections. Need to get
the lap counting squad organized. Anyone interested in helping with other
tasks that weekend, see me (like if you're looking to become a well rounded
TF official).
June - it is approaching too fast ,but we have to start organizing the
pieces of the National 15K in RI on June 13.
Meeting will be called. Need lap counting crew (it's a 1000 meter loop
done 15 times), hospitality, results;promotions, entry form and web page
input - for starters.

Reminder of the 1 mile walk - open to all ages - at the TechTrack youth
Meet at MIT this
Sunday Feb 8, start time is 12:45
We have some youth interested from Needham TC (may have them race 800
meters with the mile) so be prepared to sell the event and to lend
encouragement.
Tom is bringing a carload from Maine, and Maryanne is bringing up a young
lady from CT so it will be a sizeable field.

Steve, I'm not sure whether or not I will be available to judge, but I can
let you know next Monday. It will depend on whether or not my son is home
from school that weekend.
Heidi
Pat,
Thanks for the reply. We'll get the judging set if you want to compete,
and would appreciate your being able to help with following events.
Looks like we might move the walk back to 12:15, as one of the Mainers has
to get back for a job.

Steve et. al.
I'll be away skiing on 2/8, so I can't make the meet. Sorry.
I think that the apprentice judging program went well. For anyone else
who's interested, I'd encourage them to try it. The more we have, the
more those of us usually doing the judging have to judge.

Hi Steve,
I think I am open on february 8 and may want to do the 1 mile just to see
how I'm doing. I would be willing to learn about the long jump or timing
whatever you need and of course, I would be interested in discussing the
15k.

There will be a youth track meet at MIT on Sunday, February 8, 1-3 pm
(probably will be done quicker than that).
At 12:45, an all-ages (adult and beyond invited) all-comers 1 Mile walk has
been included - since we have a month with no events between GBTC and NE
Championships, I thought it would be of interest. The entry fee will be a

I still plan to be there. I will plan to dispense attagirls, if any

Subject: [N.E.W.] Racewalk Clinic with Dave McGovern
Hi Everyone,
Just a quick note to let everyone know that Dave McGovern, a member of our national racewalk team, will be returning to Boston on June 4- 6 for a weekend clinic. We had a great turnout last year (32 total) and many participants have already expressed an interest in returning for a second round!
I am putting the facilities together as we speak and I am hoping to use both the Medford municipal track (brand new and gorgeous!) and local classroom facilities this year. If you have an interest in attending and if you have questions about what the weekend entails, please e-mail me at: bdusk@....

slow to race yet so I might as well make myself useful. Let me know

I'd guess a later start than 12:30 for the mile racewalk at Brown. the
form says dash, hurdles, mile run and 400m run come before us.

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick note to let everyone know that Dave McGovern, a member
of our national racewalk team, will be returning to Boston on June 4-
6 for a weekend clinic. We had a great turnout last year (32 total)
and many participants have already expressed an interest in
returning for a second round!
I am putting the facilities together as we speak and I am hoping to
use both the Medford municipal track (brand new and gorgeous!) and
local classroom facilities this year. If you have an interest in
attending and if you have questions about what the weekend entails,
please e-mail me at: bdusk@....

Ethel,
There is a link on the New England Walkers web page that will allow
you to pay the club dues online. Go to:
http://newalkers.com
and look for the section that starts with: "Paying your NEW dues is
now easier than ever!"
If you want, you can send a check for $6 for club dues to: Justin
Kuo, 39 Oakland Road, Brookline MA 02445.
Hope this helps. -- Justin

I replaced the January 2004 newsletter with an HTML file. The HTML
code should be readable with most browsers. It's available at
the New England Walkers web site and at:

Thank you. -- Justin

NEW,
I don't have pdf file capability on my ancient computer. Am I going to
have to spend money just to receive the newsletter electronically, as
per the new system? You know how I hate to spend money. Last time I
tried to download software to be able to read pdf files, it didn't work.
