I regret that I will miss this race. I have a slight hip injury that I don't
want to aggravate.
It happened while training. I may have increased the distance to rapidly.

Justin,
I can make the Corp Cup on the 5th, perhaps with Helen & son.
Question for anyone: My calendar has the 20K on Sunday, but the Boston
Globe today said "it is tomorrow". I would say, pardon me Charlie, that
the two sources are equally reliable, so I need a tiebreaker.
I am hoping for Sunday if that makes any difference. Cannot make it
tomorrow. Anyone please. Which day is the 20K??

Dear New England Walker members,
It's that time of year again!
The New England Walkers have been asked to help at the 2003 J.P.
Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge, 3.5 mile road race. The race
begins at 7 p.m., this Thursday, June 5th at the Boston Common. The
JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge, New England's largest road
race, will be larger then ever with over 16,000 competitors running
through the streets of Boston.
The course heads down Charles Street, left onto Beacon Street, left
onto Arlington Street, and down Commonwealth Avenue to Kenmore
Square. It returns down Commonwealth Avenue, right on Arlington,
left on Boylston Street, and finishes back onto Charles Street.
Our volunteer duties will include marshaling along the course. New
England Walker volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt and will
have their memberships extended while helping earn revenue for our
club. In fact, most of the club revenue is generated at this one
event. If you can lend a hand please call me at 617-731-9889, or
drop me an e-mail message at kuo@....
Thanks, and 'hope to see you at the races.

Anything you can provide would be appreciated. I know that Charlie, Marcia,

the Kuo's. Maybe someone can pick up the supplies from your office.

I'm very sorry to hear about your latest health problem and I hope you get 100% better soon! I missed a lot of training and some races with Achilles tendonitis but I'm just getting back into it this week. I HATE it when I can't train and race. I hope Stan is ok and I miss him a lot. I used to enjoy the great battles we had out on the roads, even though he'd always beat me. Well, not always.
Take it easy, and get better soon! Joanne says hi. She's 60 now but you'd never guess it.
I know I am covering a lot of territory with this email but it's the best I can do right now. Those of you that work with me know I have been out for over 3 week now and thought I'd be back really soon but that doesn't seen to be in the near future.^The doctors thought I had a simple bulging disc but today the neuro-surgeon confirmed that is not the problem-it is a cyst on the spinal cord causing me all the pain.
There are 3 alternatives for MOST people(but not me):oral anti-inflammatory drugs-I already take two a day for psoriatic arthritis, the next is a spinal injection of steroids directly into the spine for 3 weeks everyother week and the last resort is surgery.I have opted for #2 right now and hope it works,

Hi Joe:
I plan to do this 20K race. Let me know if you'd like me to bring anything,
bagels, fruit, water, etc.
Thanks for coordinating this!

We had a good turnout on a bright, sunny day at Danehy Park in Cambridge on Mother's Day. A total of 14 racewalkers finished the 4.5 loop course, including a number of recent graduates of the Dave McGovern clinic trying out their new and improved technique. Holly Wenninger hammered out sub-6 minute kilometer splits all the way to win in a near-PR of 29:47. Tom Knatt and Richard Ruquist waged a tight battle for second, with Tom prevailing by 4 seconds. The race was officiated by Joanne and Bill Harriman. The next race in the series will be held on June 8.
The USATF New England 20k Race Walk championship will be
held at Ninigretpark in Charlestown, RI on
Saturday, May 31.
