Sorry not to see everyone, but our very best wishes for a speedy
recovery… Having gone through the rib thing (and the wrist – and the hamstring
J ) last
year, I know how painful it can be even if nothing is fractured… Just be
patient and don’t overdo (unlike my stupid self – I seem to have a slow learning
curve)..

Hi
Everyone,
We're
sorry to announce that our get together this weekend is not going to
happen. There are two reasons for this. The iffy weather forecast
and the fact that most of you don't know that Bill and I were involved in an
unfortunate bicycle crash Monday on the
Memorial Drive Cambridge bikeway. Bill wanted to measure the
distance of a route he walks on and also spray paint new marks at Danehy
Park before the winter sets in and the old ones disappear.
The
bike path was very narrow in some places and some people were very rude and
wouldn't move to the right, this led to an exchange of words with two guys who
wouldn't budge. Bill said on your left, but they were walking on
both sides of the path blocking the way, so he had to ride between
them. As he told me what had happened, he wasn't paying
attention and skidded off the trail onto the soft grass and when he tried
to get back on, lost control of the steering and crossed my
path. I coudn't stop in time and crashed into him and we both went
flying, not the best thing to do when your'e in your 60's!!
Bill
got the worst of it and fell face first onto the pavement. His
helmet and visor prevented a worse outcome by providing excellent
protection. He sustained bloodied and scraped nose, cut lip, and a
scraped shoulder. Fortunately, I wasn't hurt badly and was able to
assist him with first aid and we were able to ride back to the
van. Yesterday he had terribe new pain in his ribs and got it checked out
for a possible fracture, and thankfully there were no
broken bones. This morning though, he felt worse
than when it happened, had a hard time moving around and was very
stiff and sore.
We
are very disappointed that things didn't work out this year for our cookout, we
were looking forward to it. Right now, I just want Bill to feel
better and get back to his normal active self again.
