The weather outside may not be ideal but on Monday, morning, several
race walkers will be among the 23,800 participants that will compete in
the 111th Boston Marathon. They'll start in Hopkinton at 10:30 AM and
head for Boston. Here are the some of the number and names to look for:

In addition, several New England Walkers will put on their rain gear to
work as checkpoint volunteers at the 10-mile and 20-mile checkpoints.
The 10-mile is in Natick and the 20-mile in Newton. Checkpoint
volunteers will record bib number and times of the wheelchairs racers,
the first 100 female runners and first 100 male runners. Volunteers
include Beth Katcher, Priscilla Frapier, Richard Moore, Lauren Farakash,
Jack Finan, Anna, Masha, Carol Kuo, and myself. If you want to test your
rain gear, see some of the world's best runners, and help us spot the
