I met George at Niagra Falls(Nat ional10k in 1987 when I started racewalking).
He was 84 and set an age group record. I was impressed with his abilites and his personality. He was also quite an active volunteer at races. Rest in Peace George.

I learned just now that George Conway, who became a record-setting
racewalker when in his 80s and added a bright presence to many of our
