Interestingly, a similar discussion has been happening on the AERC-members list. The cost of EVERYTHING is going up--notably gas/diesel (how many truck miles do you suppose rms put on?), but also virtually everything you can think of. The vets probably have to be paid more to cover their costs to travel to the ride...etc. I've heard of a number of rides--not 100 milers--who's entry fees are skyrocketing...
- While I don't consider the $150 I'll have to pay to be too much for
- the ride (heck it's nothing compared to Tevis), a lot of people are
- upset because the price nearly doubled this year. Entry to the 100
- in the past has been $100 early registration. The jump to $190 took
- a few people by surprise. As a ride manager I do understand that
- 100's/night rides (which I manage) do cost a little more due to
- the "disposables" you have to purchase such as glow sticks, feeding
- volunteers for a longer time frame, and the higher fees you may have
- to pay your vets. But at $200 per rider ... ??
