EEVB is running a new league Tuesday nights in Commack from 12/1
to 2/2/10
We are trying something new for this league which will
have 12 teams. The schedule will be made up weekly based on a team’s
record like the summer leagues. Teams will be split up by chance the first 2
weeks. Starting the 3rd week the top 6 teams will play in 1 session
and the bottom 6 teams will play in the other session. In order to give teams
equal chance of playing in the early and late sessions, the top and bottom
teams will switch each week between the early and late session giving teams a
chance to predict which session they will be in. See the schedule link on the Commack
League web site to see what this will look like. The advantage of this system
is that teams will play other teams similar in skill level every week and give
teams a chance to measure their improvement.
League Times: 6:30 - 8:30 pm or 8:30 - 10:30 pm.
Dates:Tuesday Nights: December 1 to February 2: 10 week season including playoffs

League Procedures
1.The first 2 full teams
that arrive at the gym play the 1st match of the night. If 2 teams are not
ready to play by 6:45 (or 8:45 in the late session), then the 2 teams listed
first on the schedule will start playing even if they are shorthanded. The
winner of the 2nd game of the first match stays on and plays the
game 1 work team. Follow this order throughout the night. All matches will be 2
games played at one time. All warm-ups must be finished before that time and matches must
start at 6:45 or 8:45.
2.Any team that starts play
with 1 female will begin the game minus 3 pts per game; even if the missing female arrives
during the game (she can still join in right away). The 3-points can be added
anytime during a match if the score keeper forgets to add them at the
beginning; even if that ends the game at the point they are added. The 3 point
deficit is waived if the team plays with only 3 males and 1 female.
3.Teams that are short
players may pick up to 2 players from the team that is not playing as long as
the captain of the competing team agrees. Teams that pick up any extra players
will start the game minus 3 pts per game
4.The most a team can start
down is 4 pts.
5.Rule clarifications:
a.Let serves are legal.
(Play any serve that hits the net)
b.The backboard is in and
any ball that hits it is in play regardless of the trajectory of the ball. The
only ball not good is the one that hits the backboard and rebounds over the net
without any players touching it. This rule will keep more balls in play.
c.The ball may not be
carried. Referees should call a tighter game than in the past, as this will
only make players better.
d.No point cap, teams must
win by 2 pts.
e.Games are all played to
the same amount, no shortening of games if running late.

The 2009
Tournament Scheduleis
approaching the end of the season. There are still 3 chances left for teams to
earn Grand Prix Pts and prizes:
In addition the AVPNext/Wilson
National Championships in Siesta Key will award points that will be used for
seeding and qualifying for AVP tournaments in 2010. The AVP points
for this event will only be able to help a player’s point total, not hurt
it. The point system will be adjusted so that points earned at the Nationals
will only help a player and not hurt your seeding at 2010 AVP tournaments.
Additional information about the events including hotels,
directions and other info is linked to the tournament schedule online at www.eevb.net/sitemap.htm
EEVB has changed the Open registration policy for men and women. All

for the Sayville league which will start on Thursday Sept 19.
THERE WILL ALSO
BE A MEN’S 4S DIVISONS OFFERED in addition to the Recreational and
Competitive Coed 6s.

a team please let us know right away so that we can the teams on the web site.
Many times teams wait to see which other teams are signing up before they register.
The end result is a lot of teams watching and waiting and then the league never
gets started. So please sign up right away if your team is planning to play.
SINGLE PLAYERS: All Single players should post a new message on the web
site starting today if you want to get on a tea. To guarantee that you get on a
team you should start calling the other single players and put together a team.

ALL PLAYERS MUST HAVE AVPNEXT #s BEFORE THE FIRST NIGHT
OF PLAY
AVPNext in the grass roots organization of the AVP Pro
Beach Volleyball Tour. They promote beach volleyball throughout the US.
All of our players help out by becoming members and contributing $10 per
year membership to help with that cause.
1.The first 2 full teams that
arrive at the gym play the 1st match of the night. If 2 teams are not ready to
play by 6:45 (or 8:45 in the late session), then the 2 teams listed first on
the schedule will start playing even if they are shorthanded. The winner of the
2nd game of the first match stays on and plays the game 1 work team.
Follow this order throughout the night. All matches will be 2 games played at
one time.
