1st Thurdsday Night Tournament at Cedar Beach successful   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #1304 of 1866 |

The 1st Thursday Night Cedar Beach Mini-Tournament was won by Gary Gerns and Ron Armet who defeated Sean Symanski and Fernando Benito. The 1st event let us see how the future tournaments will work and has led to the following policy changes:

1. Divisions will be limited to 8 teams (two 4-team pools played on 2 nets per pool). You will be playing continuously the entire night.
2. Entry fee is $40/team, $20 if you pre-register by Monday Midnight
3. $160 prize money: 100 1st, $60 2nd based on 8 teams. (Prize money will decrease $40 for every team under 8)
4. MO & WO divisions have been added
5. Pre-registered teams will be constantly added to the pre-registered list online at www.eevb.netCedar.htm
6. Check in at 6 pm (at least 1 player). Start playing at 6:30 or earlier.
The Beach Hut should be open by the 6/22 tournament and will offer live music, food specials and a full service bar

These tournaments will offer a great chance for mid-week competition for players of all levels:
a. High level players can keep tuned up for weekend tournaments
b. Intermediate level players will get a chance to compete against higher level players in a relaxed atmosphere that will allow higher level players to help other players improve
c. Novice players who have never played doubles or have never played in tournaments will be able to try out tournaments against players of similar level.
d. Extra courts will be available to play on if you get knocked out earlier
e. Single players: Post message on EEVB Bulletin Board to find a partner

And everyone can sit back and enjoy a couple of cold Miller Lites after play while talking about their good and bad plays during the tournament.
