Summer League Update   Message List

There is a lot of information in this email. Please read it carefully. All league info can be found through this link: http://www.eevb.net/leagues.htm

East End Volleyball started the first beach volleyball league on LI in 1981. The leagues have been very successful and have attracted a lot of competition. We have strived to hold the entry fees down while providing the best organized leagues that offered the most fun, varying levels of competition and a tie-in to the national beach volleyball scene. We appreciate everyone who has played in an EEVB league since 1981 and who continue to support current EEVB leagues.

We have been able to obtain permission to run leagues Monday through Thursday nights at Cedar Beach in Babylon. We have had to pay a much higher site fee but we feel that it will be worth it in order to get all 4 nights. This will result in a higher league fee for the 2006 season but a fee that will still be the lowest league fee on LI. The other league runs 2 ten-week sessions in a summer season, charging you the same fee twice and making you play in May when the weather near the ocean can still be very cold or having matches in September when the shortened days result in minimal play time. All of this under the guise of giving you more quality playing time to justify league fees twice what we charge. EEVB has disdained this approach and will continue to offer a 1 league summer season with 1 fee. We have added 1 extra week at the beginning of the season to give players more value for the increased league fee.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS NEW CEDAR BEACH PROGRAM WORK:
  • Please tell all of your friends and get them to join a new league this summer.
  • Please tell all of the players in the other leagues to move over to EEVB's league program and be part of the largest league program on LI.
  • Please tell all of your friends that EEVB offers the lowest priced leagues on LI.
  • Tell all of your friends that EEVB leagues offer more playing time than any other league on LI. EEVB leagues assign 3 teams to a net and you play among those teams all night long until it gets dark. We do not schedule 2 teams against on one net for a set 3 game match. And if 1 team forfeits you wills till have a team to play.
  • Remember that you will always be playing teams of a similar level through EEVB's scheduling based on team records. Good teams do not like beating up on bad teams any more than bad teams like being embarrassed. EEVB's scheduling system lets teams play fair and competitive matches all season long allowing every team to find their own competitive level.

Cedar Beach: info available online at http://www.eevb.net/Cedarlg.htm
Tuesday Nights will remain the same with Coed 3s, Competitive Coed 6s and Recreational coed 6s plus the Junior League.
Monday Nights will be the same as Tuesday without the coed triples

Wednesday and Thursday nights will offer Competitive Coed 6s and Recreational coed 6s plus other divisions to be determined. Tentatively EEVB will offer Men's doubles and Women's doubles on Wednesdays (but this could be moved to Thursdays if we get enough requests). Please let us know if you would like to see any other divisions offered on Monday, Wednesday or Thursdays. One suggestion was for High School age level 6-player teams. I would also consider a women's 4s league and a men's 4s league. Send in your suggestions.

Cedar Beach Concession Stand: will be run in 2006 by The Beach Hut. Those of you on the East End will recognize this name as the group that has made the concession stands at Smith Pt, Meshutt, & Cupsogue County Parks into a fun place at the beach. The Cedar Beach Beach Hut will offer a wider variety of food choices, weekly entertainment and fun special events throughout the summer season. Stay tuned for further announcements.

Long Beach: The final details for Long Beach will be announced very soon

Hamptons: info available online at http://www.eevb.net/Hamptons.htm. Every Tuesday night at Tiana Beach, Coed 6s and 4-player teams (any gender). Teams must register through the Town Recreation Department again in 2006.

AVP Next Fee: The AVPNext fee has been lowered to $10. All players must become AVPNext members which will make you part of the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour's grass roots volleyball program. You will be supporting the national program that develops our Olympic Beach Volleyball Team and which you can see every week on NBC and FSN.

Singles: Players needing to be placed on a team should come to registration table 1st night or post message on the EEVB Bulletin Board.
