This weekends event was a pretty good success. We had ten teams in the event, and everybody got lots of games and had a great time. We're working to get a full schedule through the winter, with an event every month. So, if you want to keep (or get) your sand legs and play in a competitive, but somehow still fun event of indoor beach (OK, sand) volleyball, here are the details:
DATE: Sunday, December 10th
Where: Charlie's Sandbox (behind Stoneface in Albuquerque)
Contact: ADAM RUBEL (Please, do not respond to the good folks that forward this message on):
nmsvbteam@...
What: Doubles tournament.
Limit: 12 teams (sign up soon, had a waiting list for last event)
Format: SHORT pool play, followed by double elim tournament (Modern size court, antenna's, rally score, 21st century volleyball - yellow & white, AVP style rules)
Cost: $10/ Player
Prizes: Some, whatever is left after paying for the facility, could be half of what is collected. Had some Plastic hats generously thrown into the pot by Sonny last weekend.
Why: Because it is friggin Beach Volleyball in the winter in New Mexico - why else?
Where can I find updates and enthralling tales of wacky volley adventures?: http://desertsandvb.blogspot.com/
Individuals can sign up. We will hold a spot, but preference will be given this time to full teams. If you want to pick another individual from the list, that is cool, you will then be declared a team.
