Hey Kathleen,
Welcome to the area. We've actually got another group
that should start getting active soon for sand in the
region, we had most of the tournaments up last
year. The group is focused on outdoor volleyball in the
southwest, including AZ, NM CO & UT You can check it
out:
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/volleyball-sw/
There might be some sand tourneys down in Los Lunas &
there's a bar called Sneakerz in Abq that runs some
tourneys, but usually mainly men's. There is a new
complex opening in Abq. that will have 11 outdoor & 2
indoor sand courts, but I heard not until July.
Denver has the best sand competition for women, they
just put their schedule up, I think the site is
cpva.com. Of course there's the Tempe AVP in April &
Boulder in August. Both are limited draws and I know
at least on the men's side you need some points to get
in. Also, Apen on labor Day weekend is about the
biggest event.
Hope it's hepful & good to have more players around!
Adam
PS: If you're looking for indoor at all, Lobo League
at UNM is probably the best ball, definately some good
women players there.
