Hey all! Summer is coming up pretty fast. Time to start thinking

Does anyone know of nets that are available at the Monmouth County
shore? Anyone interested in playing weeknights at the beach? I
propose Wednesday but this is a feeler message.
If you are a player or a coach, please consider joining John Kessel
from USA Volleyball for a camp this summer!
The 'kamp' is unique in that it allows players and coaches to come
together to learn the game from both angles. Players who coach
become better players...so that is the 'theme' of this 'kamp'
The link to the web site is:
http://www.highlinevb.com/portals/5/CAMPS/KESSEL_KAMP_08.pdf
Also, an added benefit for those who are currently CAP I or CAP II
certified:
If you are looking to renew your CAP I or II certification, you can
do so simply by attending the Kessel Kamp.
USA Volleyball has approved our application for CAP Module credit,
totalling 5 credits. There is no additional cost to gain this
credit.
The KAMP is filling quickly, but there is still some spots left.
Sign up soon to guarantee a spot.
Remember, this clinic is for both players and coaches, but features a
coaches only portion on Friday to prepare the coaches for the rest of
the weekend.

If anyone needs a sixth for a BB team, I'd like to play.
I'm 50 years young, 6'2", 220 lbs.
The only way I can describe my skill level is to say that I play in the Ventor winter league, on a coed BB team, and I'm a somewhat above average player there.

----End----
Well as we prepare for our spring 2008 season, the United States Youth Volleyball League is continually striving to provide organized volleyball programs for kids. With that in mind, we are currently looking to fill the position of Site Director at your site. The season should run from June 11- August 2, 2008, Every Wednesday 6-7pm and Saturday 9-10am. We generally ask our site directors and coaches to be there about 20 minutes early to help set up and check in kids.
If you volunteer as a site director your child's fees are waived for that season. What an easy way to volunteer and you are volunteering for the same amount of time as your child is at his or her practice and game.
The Site Director is the main contact person between their site and the National Office. They comply in spirit and letter with USYVL Philosophy, Codes, & Policies, and receive all necessary printed materials for the program from both the National Office and from registered players. They are taught to accurately and efficiently run parent meetings. They monitor the team rosters, help in recruiting and assigning parent volunteers for as many positions as necessary to help operate the league (i.e., t-shirt or ball distribution, sign in table, etc.), and distribute whatever handouts are needed to both players and parents. We usually have a large number of parents who are interested in volunteering, and we assign players and coaches onto teams at our office. Your main responsibility is to accept required medical release and volunteer application forms that have been turned into you (instead of the main office), check-in kids on a daily basis at practices and games, and maintain the first aid kit. This can be shared with your registration staff, but you would be the responsible party and we would ask you to be on site during all practices and game days; if you are unable to be there for any reason, you may ask one of your responsible volunteers to bring the required materials to practices or games.
We train you prior to the start of the league and keep in contact throughout the volleyball season.
Quick Overview:
* main contact person between their site and the National Office.
* run parent meeting
* monitor the team roster and make any adjustments necessary
* recruiting and assigning parent volunteers for tasks or duties with the help of our contacts
* t-shirt or ball distribution
* distribution of handouts
* accept required medical release and volunteer application forms
* check any concerns of parents/kids on a daily basis
* maintain the first aid kit
* be on site during all practices and game days
* attend training
I can be reached toll-free at 1-888-988-7985 or email at Patrick@.... Also please do not hesitate to recommend someone that you think may be appropriate for the site director position. Thank you for your time and I look forward to speaking with you.
The 16th Annual DPPCA Classic Volleyball Tournament
There is a great coed volleyball tournament for adults going on April 12th-13th, 2008.
The tournament attracts over 100 coed teams broken into 4 different skill levels. It is a 2-day tournament with a free dance on the Saturday night.
It is really a party weekend for adult volleyball players, a super fun weekend.
The tournament takes place in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Normally a couple of teams from New York play in the tournament as its only an hour and a half drive north of Buffalo.
You can find the tournament listed on FACEBOOK if you search for the letters "DPPCA".
If you are looking for a weekend roadtrip with your volleyball friends then this is it. You won't find an indoor court tournament much bigger for the average adult player. The top division is very tough with quite a few strong teams/players entered. The bottom division is "non-spiking" for people who just want to have pure fun.
The organizer's name is Pat Muller. Pat's email > vbclassic@...

Due to popular demand we have added another winter Volleyball Vacation
for March 2-9 on Oahu, Hawaii. Join top AVP Pro AL-B Hannemann and
others on a Hawaiian experience you will never forget. We are limiting
this trip to a maximum of only 40 people so we can ensure a more
intimate experience with more one on one coaching and interaction.
This will be the 5th time to Oahu for Volleyball Vacations and it is
going to be awesome. Escape the cold and book now before this rare
opportunity is sold out.
We have worked out a deal with our tournament director friend on the
island so that on Saturday March 8 everyone will be allowed to compete
in a local Hawaiian beach volleyball tournament against local players.
There will be an "Unrated" and "A" tournament with prizes and a player
party Saturday night for everyone in the tournament and all volleyball
vacationers. This is a new and exciting addition to volleyball
vacations and we can't wait to train everyone all week and prepare
them for the tournament. It is also a chance to hang out and meet some
of the friendliest and most talented players in he world.
Come join us for lots of volleyball and the best sunsets in the world.
We will have the option to enjoy many excursions including hiking
through bamboo forests, surfing the most famous local spots,
snorkeling trip to Hanuama Bay, trip to the Polynesian cultural center
and even deep sea fishing for monster fish. There are many amazing
things to do on this beautiful island and we can't wait to show you
how to do it local style.
If you are interested in getting in the sun and siding out on Hawaiian
beaches call Dave at Pacific Sports Tours at 310-798-1234 or email at

Aloha~
AL-B Hannemann
Olympic Gold Medalist and the Nation's #1 volleyball skills
instructor, Pat Powers, will conduct a 12-hour volleyball clinic at
the International Sports Center.
Where: International Sports Center, Cherry Hill NJ
When: Saturday & Sunday, December 8-9
Time: 9AM-4PM on Saturday & 9AM-2PM on Sunday
For Who: Junior boys/girls (ages 12-18) and adult players
What about Skill level?
We have fun! One hour into the clinic, participants are assigned an
appropriate court determined by age and skill level. The safety and
comfort level of all players is a primary goal of the clinic.
Typically we have one court of adults, one court of junior girls and
one court of players ages 12-14. Regardless of which court you are
on, all players share the same curriculum. Current skill level is not
an issue.
What Makes VBClincis.com so unique? One word"Survivor!"
I teach skills differently. I will tell you the how and why
beforehand. Then I will over-correct the most common mistake you make
with each skill. Next is a drill with the over-corrections. Playing
Survivor is the most important aspect of the clinic. It is a simple
Queen/King of the court game where we enforce the rules of skill
over-correction. If a player fails to execute the proper technique
while playing, we boot them off the court….and their whole team! Get
back in line and try again!!! It is an extremely effective method of
changing complex skill behavior in a short period of time.
1. Learn why you should backspin a volleyball when passing.
2. Learn how to play defense by watching only the hitter.
3. Learn how to time a set; how to time your hitters.
4. Learn how to develop your peripheral vision when hitting.
5. Learn how to make your float serve dance.
6. Learn how to get into position on defense.
7. Learn the rules of non-verbal communication.
8. Learn the rule of ball control.
9. Juniors: Learn how to position yourself for a college scholarship
10. Learn the game in a non-intimidating environment.
Three fundamental team concepts stressed in the clinic are:
1. Playing the game three seconds into the future.
2. Using peripheral vision.
3. Reacting to bodies instead of the ball.

Hi, Does anyone know of a company that makes narrow volleyball shoes?
I know Mizuno did years ago. I've been away from the sport for awhile
but am getting back into it. I need to find an 8.5 2A. Thanks!
