Subject: [nevbbl] Hot Stove?

Hey everyone,

I know several of you have sent me emails asking about the meeting
and I apologize for not getting this out sooner but I was writing
papers and starting a new position at school. I now have all kinds
of time so I will hopefully paint a picture of what happened, what
could happen, and then hopefully we can start planning.

First off there were only a handful of teams at the meeting and I
would like to thank the Melrose Pondfielders, Waterbury Connors,
Mudville BBC, and the Cornish Game Hens for making the trip. A few
scheduling things were done and we talked about a few tournaments. (I
will be attaching Essex/ Lynn's/ and our new Boston teams schedules
and am looking to fill a few things…) Beyond the scheduling the only
talk about an association came from Blue Reilly of the Game Hens. I
hope he will post on what his plans are because I don't want to get
it wrong but from what we talked about he bought a web site for New
England Vintage Base Ball (he knows the address). What he sees and
what I originally envisioned for this association is something where
all teams in NE can come together and this web site sounds like it
could accomplish that. Rules can be posted, teams can link their web
sites, schedules and directions to games can be posted, and documents
can be created to help new teams. ( I have a whole PowerPoint
presentation on useful techniques in running and promoting a team).
Essentially we would be creating a web site similar to the VBBA. New
teams, fans, or anyone else interested can go to this web site get
schedules, find out what other teams are in their area, and basically
find out more about vintage base ball in NE. The final piece of
Blue's plan was to sell tee shirts on the site…… He will have to fill
you in on that. I think that a simple web site is a great start.
From there we can grow and expand into a more formal thing or we can
simply keep this very loose network. With all the new teams
springing up I just think that it is important to have something that
helps them and makes them aware of any teams in their area…..

I hope that summarizes the meeting and what I see without writing
another 5 page paper. I hope this also stimulates a little
discussion.

Have a good holiday,
