Okay everyone, I've been taking up space in our garage for 2-3 (can't remember, it all blends together) years now with UNR Cycling clothing (and any of you who have been to our house know that storage space is a seriously limiting factor), and reluctantly and belatedly getting check requests processed for y'all. Can someone, anyone, please volunteer to be the new team treasurer? I'll show you all you need to know! And I'll bake you cookies! Seriously, I'm not even a UNR student (not even a student at all really) and it would be awesome if someone can step up and take on this responsibility! If you know team members who aren't on the list serve please pass this along!

At the meeting last night it was decided that the end-of-season part will be on Friday, December 11 at Pete Morris's house. Stupid festive Christmas sweaters are mandatory attire. More details later.

Teammates,
Just wanted to remind Y'all that we'll be meeting tonight, at 7:30, on the third
floor of the JCSU. This is a rather important meeting, as we will be selecting
our new officers.
So please, come on down!

Yes it is I, Chris Payne who has developed
this Ride calendar to steel your e-mail. To bad I already had it.
The reason I didn’t put my name all over the calendar is I want it to be
a public resource, not my personal ride web-site.
Secondly you are asked to give an e-mail
address so the calendar can e-mail you when new events are posted. I am
the only one who can see the e-mail address. The calendar does not show
me your pass word; if you forget it I have the ability to send you an e-mail to
reset it. Your e-mail address is not being sold or anything like
that.
And yes Matt there are several of these
calendars in Vegas, all set up by the person who helped me set this one
up. I lived in Vegas for the last 16 months and met a lot of people using
these calendars. My wife and I thought it would be a nice thing to have
here in Reno
also.

This e-mail is being sent to inform you about www.RenoRidez.com. RenoRidez is a
calendar where rides, runs, tri training, etc. can be posted. Anyone can post a

Dear Conference Directors, team leaders and conference members,
Wow. The Collegiate Board of Trustees is amazed with the incredible amount of feedback we have received regarding the 2010 rule change summary, in particular on the issue of aero equipment. The Board strives for active involvement and engagement by our members, and we have received over sixty pages of information both for and against the requirement for mass-start-legal equipment. The Board of Trustees seriously considers all of the material we receive with regards to the sport of Collegiate Cycling and this time is no different.
With regards to the rule change legislation for 2010, please see the updated Rule Change Summary at http://bit.ly/ 2X2XsL [1]. Due to the timing of the rule publications, the nature of the rule in question, and our desire to give teams adequate time to adjust to the new regulations, the Board of Trustees has adjusted the timing of the implementation of the regulations regarding mass-start-legal equipment in Collegiate Cycling Races as follows:
For 2010, all "non-A" categories (B, C, D, E) are required to adhere to the
requirements for mass-start-legal equipment in all Collegiate Cycling Races
including individual and team time trials.
For 2011, all categories, including A, will be required to use mass-start
equipment in all Collegiate Cycling Races including individual and team time
trials.
Furthermore, we have identified two issues that warrant change.
The first issue is with regards to the creation and dissemination of the rule changes, the Board has made a top-to-bottom evaluation of our processes. We have investigated other USA Cycling Trustee methods and resolved to adopt an improved process of collecting potential rule change legislation, disseminating a list of rules under consideration for voting, and providing an opportunity to present your input to the Board for consideration in its deliberations. This includes the following revision to Rule 7B3(d):
7B3(d) Changes to the Rules. The Board of Trustees considers changes to the
Rules twice per year; at road and mountain bike nationals.
(i) To be considered, a proposed rule change must be submitted prior to April
15th / September 15th to the Chairperson at collegiaterules@ usacycling. org by
a Conference Director, acting on his or her own behalf or on behalf of one or
more Riders or other individuals. To be considered, each proposed rule change
must include (A) the affected section of the Rules; (B) the language of the
rule as then in effect; (C) the proposed revision to the rule; and (D) an
explanation of and justification for the proposed rule change.
(ii) The Board of Trustees will endeavor to publish the rule change proposals
that it has received and will be considering by April 30th / September 30th,
respectively.
(iii) Feedback from Riders and other individuals will be accepted at
collegiaterules@ usacycling. org until the conclusion of Collegiate Cycling
Road / Mountain Bike National Championship, and the Board of Trustees will
debate and vote on all proposed rule changes thereafter.
(iv) The Board of Trustees will endeavor to publish the rule changes to each
Conference twice per year; however rules will not go into effect until January
1st.
(v) The Board of Trustees will deliver to the Collegiate Cycling Manager a
revised rulebook not later than December 31 for internal review and
publication by USA Cycling.
The second issue involves reevaluating the structure of the Board of Trustees. The Board was first formed in 2004, when Collegiate Cycling became a full Association of USA Cycling. Recognizing that the sport has matured considerably since then, we are examining increasing the size of the Board to broaden representation and gain additional volunteer resources. This will ensure that we continue to meet our significant obligations as a Board of Trustees while providing adequate representation for all of our key stakeholders. The Board endeavors to bring about these changes as soon as practicable.
Thank you all for your understanding and continued support of Collegiate Cycling.
Respectfully,
Mark Abramson
On behalf of USA Cycling Collegiate Board of Trustees
Will USCS be hosting a crit as part of conference championships weekend? Typically UCSC has a RR, HCTT and a TTT. Just curious as we should be crowning a criterium conference champ as well as a RR conference champ. .

Hey guys,
Hanns has asked all of the teams to compile their thoughts on the new "no aero
equipment" rules to take effet his year. If you haven't heard, there will be no
aero equip allowed for time trials and Team time trials. That's right- no aero
bars, helmets, disc wheels and tri spokes. I wil compile a message to him, so
send your thoughts out to the listserve by friday pm. So far, here is what i
think:
In general, these rules level the playing field as far as equipment investment.
Our team would benefit from this rule change since we have very little time
trial equipment overall. Some teams that are well funded are able to acquire
equipment that gives them an advantage over other teams. While it is true that
you can gain a lot of aerodynamics with a cheap pair of clip on bars and a 60$
TT helmet, at the level of competition where the competing riders are within a
few seconds of eachother, any more investment into equipment does give a
significant advantage. Also, TT bikes with aero design and a sleek front end are
absolutely necessary to win a national level TT. As far as a TTT, to compete at
nationals is a very significant investment since at least 3 riders of the group
need to have similarly purchased TT gear. I did not know that these rules were
being discussed at USA cycling, I do support the outcome.
As far as the arguement that the rule will put our collegiate riders at a
disadvantage against USCF and UCI competitors, I agree with Matt Mansur that
having TT equipment does little if anything for rider development.
Anyways, let me know of you agree or disagree and I will send hanzzy a message.
Scot
Ladies and Gentlemen,
So, UCSB is officially, again, the last race of the MTN season. I feel it would
beneficial to us to have an EXTREMELY strong showing there, as we are currently
sitting in second, not to far behind CPSLO. PLEASE COME! This is a venue similar
to Parkfield in the way that all the teams camp together, making post race
activities rather entertaining.
We are going to have a meeting about travel coordination next Monday, at 8:00 on
the third floor of the JCSU. If you cannot make the meeting, but want to come to
the race, Email me or hit me up via text or talk on my mo-bile phone.
(415-531-3026)
Also, we have been lagging on this with our hosting of national champs, but it
is time to pick new officers for the team. I was thinking of having a meeting
AFTER UCSB to do this, so we could focus on it entirely. Any objection to that?
I will send out a list of all the available positions, which is all of them.
Nothing wrong with an actual election! If you want to run, start thinking now!
Thats about all I've got for now,
Eddie
Weak, hella weak. Tell me again, why weren't we given a race weekend? Sheesh.

Hi All,
Bad news. UCD will be unable to host a race this mountain bike season. This means that the conference championships will be held at Santa Barbara's race on Nov 14,15. Expect an email in the next day or so from our Sport Clubs office detailing why they are not allowing us to host a race this year. We're all really bummed, and sincerely apologize for having to step down from our commitment of hosting conference, and any inconvenience this change may cause.
I cracked the frame on my road bike, there's only about an inch and a half of
metal still attached along the down tube just behind the head tube. I'm going
to a couple of shops to see if I can do a warranty exchange on it, but I did buy
it used. I don't have any money to buy a new frame. I need a 60-61cm frame, I
know it's asking a lot, but anything would help.
If anybody has some advice, my ears are open.
Alex
The skinny is that no aero equipment will be allowed for TTT or ITT. All bikes
and equipment including helmets must be UCI mass start legal.

There is some debate going on with the WCCC listserve, but it will be too late
to change the rule back for this year, until road nats in the spring. So 1 bike

Looks like the weather is going to be nice this thursday. I would like to get everyone who wants to race road this spring together for an easy ride. Anytime on thursday works for me. The road team looks to be the biggest in recent history so we should start planning now for a successful season. I would like to float some ideas about group rides, categories, team training camp in feb (death valley), TTT's and scheduling. For those of you wanting to go to nationals training should begin Nov 1. For those with the ability to train with power a formal threshold test should be done ASAP. If you don't have power we can do a threshold test based on HR. Let me know if thursday works. If not we can try for the weekend also but I will have to do the ride in Washoe valley because I am on call at the hospital this weekend and need to be within 30 minutes of the hospital. If you have not done a formal threshold test before check out Chad Timmerman's indoor power class. He will be doing threshold testing soon and it's a nice controlled environment.
Yo,
So, everyone's favorite national champ, Jon Wilson, was kind enough to plug the
recent Nationals with our school newspaper, aka the Sagebrush. The article
should be published tomorrow, 10/27! Hopefully some rad shots get used, as i
sent the author about 50 different pics to choose from. muhaha.
Also, my parentals took quite a few pics from the nationals weekend, as well as
some video. my mother published it on http://nevadacycling.shutterfly.com/
Sadly, they are pretty "eddie heavy" but hey, they were my parents, and i am the
best looking on the team, so i guess y'all should be honored. zow!
that is all for now, until next time, stay frosty.
