just as I mentioned, she was deemed to b too close to the wa, but she tried
to back off when the wa received the ball but the action was not acceptable
to the umpire. I had to tell her to stay 5ft away from the player.

The answer is yes but the umpire should only do it as a last resort when
all other avenues have been tried as per what the rules states for
penalties. You would not advance a penalty unless there was sufficient
reason to advance it. Did anything happen to for the umoire to advance the
penalty?
