Re: [netballcoaching] clarification of rules

Can someone please help me clarify some rules please.  Some decisions on the weekend made me think maybe rules have changed?
1. Coaches coaching from the sidelines during play, is this allowed?
2. When a player in possession of the ball falls to the ground (without being contacted or obstructed) what rules apply to her so she can pass the ball? (Do stepping & replay rules apply?)
3. Is the center player still allowed to step out of the center circle to pass off the center pass after the umpire has blown her whistle to commence play?
4. What is the ruling about head gear; wearing sunglasses or head band?  I've seen Cath Cox wearing plastic headbands while playing, but on Saturday our senior players were told to remove theirs?

I don't have a current rule book to check these and was hoping someone might be able to help.
Cheers
Lou Boatman

Here you go: 1. Yes, this is allowed - but not during injury time - and they need to stay in the one place. 2. They must get back on their feet...

Hi Michelle. Stepping rule doesn't apply until they're back on their feet. I don't think that's right. The stepping rule applies from the time a player...

That's what my hubby (who is doing his pre-test for his National A told me). Don't know if there's a way to fall on your butt and NOT step. We seem to concur...

There are many UUMs (Umpiring Urban Myths), even at A level. J They heard it from someone, start using it, and it became "fact". "First Possession" is a...

Thanks Stephen and Michelle, I see that it will be one of those rules which will unfortunately be up to umpire interpretation. By the way it's great that...
