I recently became qualified to deliver coaching courses – and when I did the training with Queensland Netball, we were told that all accreditation will be changing – so there will no longer be Level 0, 1 and 2. I thought some of you might not of heard of this, and would be interested. Here’s the blurb from Netball Queensland:
New Coaching Framework to commence in 2008
The major change to the coaching framework is that it will be a six-tier progression, rather than the current three-tier, with each stage being accredited. The names of each of the courses have also changed to reflect the level of skills required at each stage of the coaching pathway.
· Foundation
· Development
· Intermediate
· Advanced
· Elite
· High Performance
Some of the changes to the course content were required due to the need for coaches to be more mindful of inclusive coaching practices, risk management, child protection, member protection and immediate first aid. Other changes were made to bridge the gap between courses.
In 2008, Netball Australia will offer the first three stages of the new coaching accreditation framework.
The new courses begin with the Foundation Course, progressing through to the Development Course (current Level 1 Coaches will receive this accreditation) and Intermediate Course (bridging course between old Level 1 and Level 2 Courses).
I’m not sure if all states are bringing this in – but it does sound like it. I know in our region, there were quite a few coaches who have ½ finished their Level 2 and need to complete them soon.
