My daughters team which apparently was too good for under 9's when they still had a season left in under 9 went up to under 11 sect 2, now they won from memory 3 out of about 11 games now they werent too disheartened I was more for them but they were competitive. Our Werribee comp has finals for under 11's which I dont totally agree on but as for my team I havent focused too much on the winning but the competitiveness of the girls and how much they improved and I acutally got them all a trophey each with great effort all year and their names on the trophey.
My team out of about 10 teams came 3rd last so no where near the finals but I dont think maybe in sect 2 they should not have finals but maybe in section 1 they could because they girls are acutally older and more mature, my girls are all 9 big difference between 9 and 11 year olds.
I wish our comp had 10 and under and 11 and under
so my answer is no for finals in under 11's especially if they have just gone up

At U11 grade the emphasis is on participation / getting the girls actually playing the game and enjoying it so that they wish to continue.Finals at this young age is...personal opinion..not the way to go. Some of the players in the teams that do not make it could feel to disappointed that they may withdraw. Focus on the participation aspect at this age levelBruce CameronAdelaide----- Original Message -----From: Kristen SimpsonSent: Saturday, November 25, 2006 8:07 PMSubject: [netballcoaching] 11/U no finals

Hi Everyone
I need lots of opinions here please
our state netball body recommends no finals 11/u and this is becoming a ‘hot’ issue at our association some belief that the kids look forward to and enjoy finals and that the kids need to go through highs and lows, that its all about life learning in a way. I can see both points of view. A recent response was we need to be guided by our assoc. not the governing body. Also it was said that kids get just as deflated if they are playing in the older age groups in finals and not getting court time and if we take away ladders etc what are the kids aiming for?
I’d love your opinions and what others have done at there assoc.
Kristen
