Hi everyone,

Thanks again for the recent advice you gave re strategies The girls are starting to work that out quite well.  Now I would like to have a rule cleared. I have a GD/GK whom defends every ball with "passion". She defends using various techniques but the one landing her in trouble with only 1 umpire is when defending the ball with her hand straight up over the ball she 'tracks' the ball but the umpire is pulling her for obstruction telling her shes not allowed to move her hand. I thought following the movement of the ball was okay???

Kind Regards
Kristen Simpson

Hi Fran. Certainly, she's not allowed to prevent another player from moving by holding out her arms, or legs. If she was defending the GS with the ball and...

Funny that you should mention that. Yes, by what you've told us you're daughter was doing the right thing - taking into consideration what Stephen said as...

Hi Fran From what I've been taught... it's the direction your hands are facing. If they're facing the ball, you're defending the pass, and it's OK. If you're...

I am a B Badged umpire and I believe as long as she does not madly waving her arm/hand around and she is only following the ball and not trying to intimidate...
