Anne,
Yes you can put the thrower in any part of the centre third you want, but I usually put her near the sideline or for a different effect, near the centre circle.
I also give sometimes play numbers netball to get them jumping in the air to receive a pass on the run. eg: I give each player a number which they have to remember. I start with the ball and call No.1 who has to run out and call her number and take a pass on the run (also gets them looking for each other) then no.2 calls her number and runs to take a pass from 1 and so on.
I tell the girls they have to be on the run and must receive the ball in the air. This also helps to fix stepping and dragging problems.

The thrower with the ball had to use proliferal vision when passing to purple bibs. I told her to look out the corner of her eye quickly and be aware of where the yellow bibs were and select the best option to pass to. Then we did the same thing with purple bibs on the move.Sometimes bad passing can be caused by the other players being lazy and not leading to the ball. (no-one to throw a clear pass to).I have one 14 year old who takes brilliant intercepts in defence and tries to pass off quickly while still not balanced and throws back to the opposition a lot of the time. I am working with her to get her to stand up straight and get her body centred before passing off.I guess you need to look at the reasons why the players were passing badly and address those particular problems. Hope this has been some help.Trish----- Original Message -----From: Dave+AnneSent: Sunday, August 13, 2006 9:05 PMSubject: [netballcoaching] passing drillsHi allI coach an U11's rep team & we had a tournament on the weekend & the standard of passing was terrible.I guess they were too quick to get rid of the ball & under pressure from tall girls. Even after telling them several times due to the wind keep your passes short.Any suggestions???Anne
