Re: [netballcoaching] passing drills

Hi guys,
I have had the same problems in the past and I set up a training drill for my 11, 12 & 13 year olds where I stategically placed 4 girls in purple bibs around the centre third (standing still) and had 3 girls in yellow bibs running around and through the middle.  The thrower with the ball had to use proliferal vision when passing to purple bibs.  I told her to look out the corner of her eye quickly and be aware of where the yellow bibs were and select the best option to pass to.  Then we did the same thing with purple bibs on the move.

Sometimes bad passing can be caused by the other players being lazy and not leading to the ball. (no-one to throw a clear pass to).

I have one 14 year old who takes brilliant intercepts in defence and tries to pass off quickly while still not balanced and throws back to the opposition a lot of the time.  I am working with her to get her to stand up straight and get her body centred before passing off.

I guess you need to look at the reasons why the players were passing badly and address those particular problems.  Hope this has been some help.

Trish

Subject: [netballcoaching] passing drills

Hi all

I coach an U11's rep team & we had a tournament on the weekend & the standard of passing was terrible.

I guess they were too quick to get rid of the ball & under pressure from tall girls. Even after telling them several times due to the wind keep your passes short.

Any suggestions???

Anne
